TLC just announced a new spin-off with 90 Day Fiance: What Now? favorites, David and Annie. The pair will take to the kitchen in David and Annie Spice it Up to share all of their favorite Thai recipes and connect with fans in the new digital spin-off.
David and Annie on 90 Day Fiance
David and Annie have been beating the odds since day one. David, 48, survived a stroke, then decided to turn his life around after a near-death epiphany. One night, at a karaoke bar, David heard 24-year-old Annie singing and fell in love right away. A mere 10 days later, he proposed, and Annie said yes. Their relationship had obstacles to overcome from the very beginning; from a dowry to a two-decade age gap, but they have persevered. The couple will celebrate their 3rd wedding anniversary in a few weeks.
After living through ups and downs as captured by the TLC filming crews, David and Annie are in a better place together now, financially and emotionally. In a 2019 interview with ET, the couple discussed their relationship improving. Per ET, “David says the two are now ‘in a lot better place’ since cameras captured the ups and downs of their relationship, including their financial struggles.
‘I was not in a good place in 2013 and Annie obviously is just the best thing in my life, the best decision, and together we feel like we can take on the world,’ David says. ‘And we’re traveling and cooking for people, doing a lot. We’re in a lot better shape. It’s not like we’re wealthy in any stretch of the imagination, but we’re doing a lot of different things for revenue, whether it’s working in catering, whether it’s doing parties, I’m still teaching online and working for a company that has overseas interests, so we’ve been doing so many things.’
Meanwhile, Annie notes of being in a healthier place, ‘It’s not because we’ve won the lottery, it’s because we love each other and I appreciate him every day.’”
TLC Announcing ‘Spice it Up’
TLC has really mastered the art of the spin-off with the 90 Day Fiance franchise. Variety reports, “The show, produced by Sharp Entertainment, began airing in 2014 and has spawned nine spin-offs, including ‘Before the 90 Days,’ ‘The Other Way,’ ‘What Now?,’ ‘Pillow Talk,’ ‘The Family Chantel,’ the COVID-19 themed ‘Self-Quarantined,’ ‘Happily Ever After,’ ‘B90 Strikes Back!’ and most recently, ‘Darcey and Stacey.’”
Now, Spice it Up With David & Annie will allow the couple to connect with fans more personally through Facebook Watch. In the show, David and Annie will guide fans through their favorite Thai recipes.
CELEB spoke with Dominique Enchinton, David and Annie’s manager, and owner of talent agency Dominton Talent House. Enchinton confirmed the spin-off for us, and that if all goes well, this digital format will turn into a network series. Enchinton also confirms that the couple is in talks with two publishers on a cook book.
Ask Mama Chantel
Spice it Up isn’t the only new member of the 90 Day Fiance family. People reports that, aside from Spice it Up, TLC will also be adding Ask Mama Chantal. Chantal‘s mother, Karen, from The Family Chantel will be dishing out her motherly advice in her digital spin-off.
Per People, “‘David, Annie and Chantel’s mom Karen are three larger-than-life personalities whom fans have fallen in love with over several season and spinoffs of the 90 Day franchise,’ Howard Lee, TLC president and general manager, said in a statement. ‘While we continue to lead with women audiences in cable, partnering with Facebook Watch lets us go deeper with current 90 Day devotees and expand to all-new digital audiences.’”
When Will Fans be Able to Tune In?
Spice it Up With David & Annie will be premiering on Facebook Watch on October 28th. Ask Mama Chantal will premiere on the same platform on October 22nd.
