Almost everyone can agree that Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are total couple goals. Yep, these two have been together for more than four years now, and boy, are they perfect for one another!
But wait, how did they even meet? When exactly did they start dating? And what have they said about each other? Not to worry, you guys, because in honor of Turner’s 25th birthday on February 21, 2021, we decided to make you a complete timeline of her relationship with Jonas! Here’s a recap of their adorable love story…
They Met In 2016 After He Slid Into Her DMs
Jonas and Turner met all the way back in 2016, after he slid into her Instagram DMs!
“We had a lot of mutual friends and they’d been trying to introduce us for a long time,” Turner explained to Harper’s Bazaar UK during a March 2019 interview. “We were following each other on Instagram and he direct messaged me one fine day, out of the blue.”
After talking for a few weeks, they decided to meet up at a bar in Camden, U.K., since Jonas was scheduled to perform there with his brothers.
“I expected him to show up with security and everything. I thought, ‘He’s gonna be such a d**k,’” the actress recalled toElle Magazine. “I brought all my guy friends to come with me to meet him, because in the back of my mind I still worried that he could be a catfish — or I don’t know what. I just wanted my guy friends with me. I had my rugby boys. I was safe.”
According to Turner, right away, the pair hit it off, and they talked for “hours.”
“It wasn’t small talk — it was just so easy. And soon we were, like, inseparable. I went on tour with him,” she added.
“[We] were all in,” Jonas also told Dr. Phil in 2019. “We knew it was something unique.”
Their First Public Spotting Came A Few Months Later
It wasn’t until October 2016 that we got the first glimpse of the couple. Yep their first public spotting came when a friend shared a pic of them from a Halloween party, and naturally, the internet went into a frenzy over it. And a few weeks later, they were caught cuddling up at a Kings of Leon concert, with an onlooker telling Us Weekly, “Joe and Sophie arrived together before the show started. He had his arm around her as they walked in, and then he was holding her before the show. Joe and Sophie kissed a few times and were talking and drinking soda.”
They were photographed getting dinner together a few times together after that, and get this — they also spent Thanksgiving together with Jonas’ family a few weeks later.
They Went Instagram Official In January 2017
In January 2017, Turner made their love Instagram official! She shared a snap of Jonas to her feed, which she captioned, “Miami daze.”

When asked about the relationship a week later during an appearance on Extra, the Game of Thrones star stayed tight-lipped about it, but she did say she was “very happy.”
Then, a few weeks later, they attended their first event together! They went to the CAA pre-Golden Globes party side-by-side, and boy, did they look amazing.
In May 2017, Jonas’ younger brother, Nick Jonas, even posted a pic of them, which he captioned, “These two.”

In the same month, the blonde beauty opened up to Elle Magazine about why she prefers to date people who are famous. She explained, “I found it easier to date someone who understands the industry or is in that world. You realize that you’re not going to see each other all the time. And you don’t feel like a jerk when you’re like, ‘My publicist says I can’t do this.’”
She also told Marie Claire that she and Jonas had met each other’s parents.
They Adopted A Dog Together In September 2017
Over the next few months, they continued to spend time together, with photographers catching them holding hands on numerous occasions. Then, in September 2017, they adopted a dog together! They named the husky pup Porky Basquiat, and he was pretty adorable, if you ask us.

In October 2017, the couple announced that they were engaged!

She later told Marie Claire, “It’s lovely to be engaged. Not like I achieved anything, but I found my person, like, I’d find a house that I love and want to stay in forever. There’s a sense of peace that comes with finding your person.”
They Got Matching Tattoos In October 2018
In October 2018, the two stars took another big step when they got matching tattoos! Jonas got the words “To infinity” inked onto his wrist, while Turner got “And beyond” tattooed onto hers — a famous line from the Toy Story movies.
Sophie Turner Starred In The Jonas Brothers’ ‘Sucker’ Music Video
When the Jonas Brothers released their “Sucker” music video in February 2019, fans were pretty excited. Especially because Turner starred in it! She, along with Nick’s wife, Priyanka Chopra, and Kevin Jonas‘ wife, Danielle Jonas, all appeared in the visual, and boy, was it epic!
During an interview with Glamour UK a few weeks later, the star credited Jonas with saving her life.
“[He] loves me more than he loves himself, and [he] wants to see me find my own happiness,” she gushed. “[He] was probably the biggest thing that pushed me to find who I am — and find my happiness in things other than acting.”
Turner added in another interview, “I don’t think I love myself at all, but I’m now with someone that makes me realize that I do have some redeeming qualities, I suppose. And when someone tells you they love you every day, it makes you really think about why that is and I think it makes you love yourself a bit more. So yeah, I love myself. I feel safe around him. I won’t be judged by him. He’s seen the worst.”
The Couple Tied The Knot In May 2019
In May 2019, the pair shocked us all when they had a surprise wedding in Las Vegas, NV, after the Billboard Music Awards! Their marriage was officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator and the guests included celebrities who were present at the BBMAs, like Khalid, country duo Dan + Shay, Diplo and more. A few months later, they headed to the south of France to celebrate, where they threw a lavish wedding party.
News Hit The Web That They Were Expecting In February 2020
News hit the web in February 2020 that the couple was gearing up to welcome their first child together! And despite Turner being spotted with her growing baby bump numerous times over the nine months that she was pregnant, the two stars did not speak out about it at all. But ready to have your hearts burst?! According to Life & Style, Jonas treated his wife like royalty during her pregnancy.
“He’s always treated Sophie like a princess, moreso now than ever before — romantic trips away, pampering sessions and when she’s feeling tired, he’ll take charge of the grocery shopping and run errands,” a source dished to the outlet while she was pregnant. “As it’s all new to Sophie, she’s slightly nervous about the birth and how she’ll cope balancing work with motherhood, but Joe’s putting her mind at ease. He’s very caring like that.”
They Welcomed A Little Girl In July 2020
Jonas and Turner welcomed their first child together on July 22, 2020. In a statement to Us Weekly, they couple said they were “delighted to announce the birth of their baby.” At the time, a source told ET, “The couple is already obsessed and can’t stop gloating about their new addition. The couple is taking time to enjoy this special moment and have only shared the news and updates with family and friends. With the pandemic Joe and Sophie have been very cautious about who is around them and their little girl.”
