This may come as a shock, you guys, but it has officially been 18 years since The Amanda Show concluded. Yep, that’s right, the Nickelodeon series came to an end on September 21, 2002, but it seriously feels like just yesterday that we were watching Amanda Bynes, Nancy Sullivan, Drake Bell and more hilariously put on skits on our TV screens.
Wow, can you believe how fast time has flown by?! And over the years, Bynes has certainly changed a lot. After her time in the comedy show came to an end, she went on to launch a major career, landing roles in some of the biggest movies and TV shows ever! But in July 2010, the star announced that she was taking an indefinite hiatus from acting, and things went a little south for her after that. She had numerous run-ins with the law, and she even went to rehab.
But wait, what is she doing now, you ask? It turns out, The Amanda Show alum is on a much better path now. She revealed in 2018 that she had been sober for four years. Plus, she’s engaged to a guy named Paul Michael, and there were even rumors in the past that she was pregnant with their first baby together!
So is she gearing up to become a mom? What else is she up to these days? Not to worry, people, because we’ve got you covered. In honor of the show’s anniversary, let’s take a look at Bynes’ epic transformation. Here’s everything she has accomplished since the show ended…
After The Show Went Off The Air, She Continued To Act
Bynes went on to star in What A Girl Wants, She’s the Man, What I Like About You, Hairspray, Sydney White, Easy A, Canned and more. She even voiced Taffy in Rugrats!
But in 2009, it was announced that she was supposed to star in the movie Post Grad, but that she had dropped out unexpectedly. Then, one year later, she started filming another flick called Hall Pass, but decided to back out once again, causing rumors to start circulating that she was having a hard time in her personal life. And in 2010, the brunette beauty announced that she was taking an indefinite hiatus from acting.
Things Weren’t The Best For Her After That
In 2012, the now-34-year-old was arrested and charged with driving under the influence. In the end, the charge was dropped and she received a three-year probation. But her legal problems didn’t end there. In May 2013, she was was charged with reckless endangerment and marijuana possession after she was found smoking in the lobby of her Manhattan apartment building. The case was dismissed in June 2014. Bynes was also detained in July 2013 after she allegedly started a small fire in the driveway of a stranger. Then, in October 2014, the former Nickelodeon actress revealed via Twitter that she had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
After She Cleaned Up Her Act, She Focused On Her Education
In 2018, Bynes revealed via Twitter that she had been sober for four years! At the time, she wrote in a now-deleted tweet, “I’m really ashamed and embarrassed with the things I said. I can’t turn back time but if I could, I would. And I’m so sorry to whoever I hurt and whoever I lied about because it truly eats away at me.”
She then started to focus much of her time on her education, and enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. You go, girl!
Now, She’s Happily Engaged To Michael
Bynes announced that she was engaged to Michael, who is a student in Los Angeles, in February 2020. Then, a few months later, she revealed via Instagram that she had spent some time in rehab, but that she was ready to focus on her schooling again.
“Update: Getting my Bachelor’s degree from FIDM Taking online classes, trying to get a 4.0 GPA. Looking forward to starting my online store in the future #goals,” she wrote. “Spent the last two months in treatment. Worked on coping skills to help with my social anxiety that caused me to drop out of school months ago. Back on track and doing well! I’m now living in transitional living and doing therapy during the week. Still engaged to tha love of my life Paul Hope you’re all staying safe! Love y’all!”
So Is Bynes Pregnant?
Fans were left pretty confused in March 2020 when Bynes shared a snap of an ultrasound to Instagram, and captioned it, “Baby on board.” She later took it down. So is she gearing up to welcome her first baby? Nope — on May 5, 2020, her lawyer, David Esquibias, confirmed to Us Weekly that no, she is not pregnant after all.
What About Her Costars? What Are They Doing Now?
Bell did not slow down after The Amanda Show ended. He went on to star in Drake & Josh, Yours, Mine & Ours, Superhero Movie, College, The Fish Tank, Ultimate Spider-Man, L.A. Slasher, American Satan, Dan Is Dead, Cover Versions, Highly Gifted and more. He also pursued a career in music, dropping four studio albums over the years. As for his love life, he started dating Janet Von in 2014, but since they’re both pretty private, it’s unclear if they’re still together.
The Amanda Show was just the beginning for Sullivan. She too went on to star in Drake & Josh, but she also landed roles in The Weekend, Squirrel Boy, All Kids Count, Unwanted Guest and others. She wasn’t acted in anything since 2017, and she doesn’t have any social media, so we’re not too sure what she’s doing now!
