Anatomy Miami: Revolutionizing the Way Fitness and the Affluent Life Go Hand in Hand

It's no secret that one of the keys to living a wealthier lifestyle is looking and feeling good. The intersection between wealth and fitness is a lucrative corner.

At Anatomy Fitness Miami, the city's elite have found a place to work out that combines health sciences with state-of-the-art equipment – plus the industry know-how of its two founders who both bring wildly different experience to the table.

Opened by Two Greats

Anatomy Fitness is a new approach to the way people maximize health. Instead of having to choose between good equipment, whole-body services and a health science approach to wellness, Anatomy brings it all together.

Anatomy was created from the minds of former Jets and Patriots player Marc Megna as well as nightlife maven Chris Paciello, a Miami-based entrepreneur on the cutting edge of hospitality and fitness.

Megna and Paciello noticed that there was no "luxury" fitness option, a glaring hole in a city full of the affluent and elite with unique needs not met at your corner gym.

The co-founders sat down with Racked in 2014 to talk about opening their first location, at 1220 in South Beach. Since then, three more locations have joined the Anatomy Family. Racked writes, "'Anatomy at 1220 is a wellness and fitness center that does have a gym inside of it, but it's not a gym,' says Marc. 'We offer training, membership training, one-on-one personal training, and group fitness training. We have a medical component that does every type of test you can think of to monitor your health, from body fat to VO2 max testing, blood work to food sensitivity testing. We have an outside eating area, a retail store, a full-blown salon that does hair blowouts, manicures and pedicures. We have a spa area with a steam room, infrared sauna, a cold therapy room, a cold plunge, a jacuzzi, massage therapy, a chiropractor. That's just for now.'"

Racked adds, "'A gentleman can come, get his workout in, eat his post workout meal, get a massage, get his hair done, hit the steam room, whatever he wants. He doesn't even have to leave the ground,' explains Marc. It's true. You can literally walk in, get a bone density scan, jump into a personal training session, relax in their VitaSquad IV room, get a full blowout and grab a to-go bite from their picturesque cafe. This is as all-in-one as you can get, folks."

What Anatomy Does Differently

Of course, it wouldn't be a gym for the elite if it was easy to get into – you have to apply to become a member at Anatomy.

And it's more than just a place to pump some iron, the unique experience of both Megna and Paciello have created a whole-body experience that includes a path to wellness through every part of the body and mind.

The website taps their mission with the goal to, "Create intimate health and wellness communities where friends and families can sweat, enhance and recover, all under one roof."

Men's Journal writes, "The innovative concept combines state-of-the-art fitness equipment, proprietary personal training, and indoor/outdoor group fitness programming, with recovery and regeneration components including hot and cold plunges, infrared and cold saunas, and eucalyptus steam room. Anatomy is a holistic wellness experience fully equipped to address the unique needs and goals of its member."

The four locations each offer different services to cater specifically to their unique communities. Locations include:

  1. Anatomy @ Miami Beach: 1220 20th St, Miami Beach, FL
  2. Anatomy @ Midtown: 3415 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL
  3. Anatomy @ 1 Hotel South Beach: 2341 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL
  4. Anatomy @ Coconut Grove: 3385 Pan American Drive, Coconut Grove, FL.

Wealthy People Move More on the Weekends

Research makes it clear that Anatomy and those that will follow in its footstep are needed.

The affluent spend more time meeting physical fitness needs, especially on the weekend. Reuters reports, "Compared to people making less than $20,000 a year, individuals earning at least $75,000 annually were 1.6 times more likely to meet physical activity guidelines of 150 minutes of moderate exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous workout during a two-day period. Over the entire week, the more-affluent people were 1.9 times as likely to meet the guidelines."

Not only do the affluent (generally defined as making more than $160K a year with more than $2 million in assets) have more time to devote to fitness, but it's an expectation of the station.

If you don't look like you take care of yourself, it's hard to make inroads in a high-profile industry such as hospitality or entertainment.

Providing a place for the affluent to meet all of their fitness and wellness needs in a single destination is the perfect solution to a uniquely Miami problem – one that Anatomy has risen to solve.
