Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Planning a Move Back to the UK?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem content in the United States, but one person close to the royal family says it’s conceivable that they’ll make a move across the pond back to Harry’s home in the future.

Harry and Meghan famously walked out of the royal life and into a more normal existence in 2020. Well, relatively normal, anyway.

Living in Montecito with their two children – Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana – the couple has found a way to make their own money, and forge their own path.

But that doesn’t mean that they’re done with the United Kingdom forever. After all, Harry’s roots go deep into British soil.

One person close to the royal family believes that it’s not only possible they’ll move back, it’s likely.

The New York Post reports, “Grant Harrold, who worked as [King] Charles’ butler from 2004 to 2011 when he was Prince of Wales, insists a return to Harry’s home soil is a likely move for the exiled royals in the future.

‘I’d never say never, it’s always possible that one day he might want to come home, it’s possible that he might buy [a property] here if he wanted to come over [more] and Meghan didn’t want to come over,’ Harrold, 45, told The Post.

‘Meghan doesn’t really have any family here as such, all her family are in the States and that’s where Harry has decided he wants to set up his home,’ he continued.

The British etiquette expert and broadcaster said the flame-haired prince is ‘always going to have an association with the UK’ and will never ‘totally want to cut that off.’

‘He’ll always want to keep his fingers in that pie, so to speak,’ Harrold said on behalf of Oddspedia.

‘He’ll want to have that association with Britain just in case one day he does want to come back and I don’t think Harry will want to sever ties.’”

Harry and Meghan have only been back to the UK a handful of times, and have spoken openly about the trauma they experienced at the hands of both the British press and an uncaring royal institution.

Harry is currently fighting with British courts to allow him to purchase police protection when he brings his family back to visit, ever since the government said they would stop covering his protection detail.

A judge denied Harry’s request, disliking the precedent of allowing wealthy people to use the police force for their own ends. But he did leave the door open for Harry to appeal the government’s decision and potentially have them cover his security in the future, especially if he’s about business for the family, like he was during the coronation.

But since they’ve only been back to the UK a handful of times, it seems unlikely that they’ll be moving over there, at least any time soon.

Harrold explains, “It’s very possible they could come back to the UK, however, at this moment in time they seem happy in the States and that’s where they want to be.”
