Is anyone else still shook over the news that Ariana Grande is engaged to her boyfriend, Dalton Gomez?! Yep, for those who missed it, the singer shared the exciting news via Instagram on Sunday, December 20, and fans couldn’t be happier for her.
But wait, did you guys know that the “Thank U, Next” songstress’ engagement ring allegedly has a super special meaning behind it? Yep, it’s not any old piece of jewelry. Get this — it reportedly has ties to Grande’s grandparents, so prepare to have your hearts burst.
How Is The Ring Related To Her Grandparents?

The ring is definitely unique, and it features a big oval diamond and a pearl. Shannon Delaney-Ron, Director of Communications at jewelry store James Allen, told Seventeen Magazine that the diamond is around 5-6 carrots and probably cost between $200,000 — $300,000. Wow!
But what about the pearl, you ask? Well that’s where her grandparents come in. As fans know, the musician is super close to her maternal grandmother — Marjorie Grande (A.K.A. Nona) — who has been photographed by her side so many times over the years. Marjorie’s husband and Grande’s grandfather, Frank, unfortunately passed away in 2014 after a battle with cancer. And after his tragic death, the pop star explained via Twitter that her Nona had a pearl from his neck tie pin made into a ring, and that it’s going to protect her in the future.

Now, Grande has yet to confirm anything, but many fans think that’s the pearl in her engagement ring is the one from her late grandfather! OK, how sweet is that?!

Who Exactly Is Dalton Gomez?
So who exactly is Grande’s future husband? Well, he actually works at Aaron Kirman Group as a luxury home realtor. He was raised in Southern California and is currently 25 years old. How did he meet Grande, you ask? Well, according to reports, they met after she hired his company to help her find a house — and right away, they felt a connection.
“When she saw him, she immediately thought he was cute and very good-looking, and she asked her team to set up an in-person meeting with him,” a source told Us Weekly. “Ariana fell very hard for Dalton shortly after they met.”
How Long Have They Been Together?
The couple was first spotted together in February 2020. At the time, TMZ obtained photos of them kissing in a bar. But it wasn’t until one month later, when he started popping up all over the brunette beauty’s Instagram Stories, that fans were able to identify him as Gomez. Sources told People Magazine at the time that the pair had already been together for two months before that, and that they were quarantining together.
“Ariana is staying at home with friends. She is very serious about self distancing and has been with the same group of people for days,” an insider told the publication. “One of the people she is with right now is Dalton — they have been hanging out for a couple of months. Ariana doesn’t want to do another public relationship so she is trying to keep this one quiet, but she seems very happy with Dalton.”
Despite Gomez appearing in Grande’s Instagram Stories, she stayed pretty tight lipped about their romance. That is, until May 2020, when they starred in the music video for her song with Justin Bieber, “Stuck With U.” Yep, in the visual, they danced and cozied up and it was too cute for words.
Then, in June 2020, right before her birthday, the former Nickelodeon star shared an adorable picture of her and Gomez snuggling by the pool — their first photo together! One day later, Grande shared another pic with the realtor, and this time they were kissing.

In August 2020, the 27-year-old shared a super sweet tribute in honor of Gomez’s birthday. Alongside a bunch of videos and pictures, she wrote, “Hbd to my baby, my best friend, my fav part of all the days. I love [you].”

“Ariana sees something different in Dalton that she has never seen before in guys she has previously dated,” a source told Us Weekly a few weeks later. “He is the type of guy she has been looking for. He’s very protective of her, will go out of his way for her and does little things that are chivalrous. Dalton will go above and beyond to meet her needs.”
