Yep, many people have become suspicious after they noticed that Briana Jungwirth‘s cousin Ashley just referred to her and Louis Tomlinson‘s son, Freddie Reign, as her nephew in a new video. So is this confirmation that the toddler is not really the One Direction member’s son after all? We broke it all down for you, and here’s what you need to know…
First Off, Who Is Briana Jungwirth?
Jungwirth is a hairstylist from Calabasas, CA, who gained attention online after she entered into a relationship with Tomlinson in May 2015. Then, a few months later, fans were left seriously shook when news hit the web that she was expecting the singer’s baby. Their son, Freddie, was born on January 21, 2016.
And What Is Babygate?
Many of Tomlinson’s fans think that Jungwirth faked the entire pregnancy in an attempt to help cover up the fact that Tomlinson is gay and in a secret relationship with Harry Styles — a situation that the fandom refers to as “babygate.” Other people have suggested that Freddie isn’t Tomlinson’s son at all, and that the Instagram star got pregnant from someone else and tricked Tomlinson into believing he was the dad in an attempt to extort him for money and fame. Fans have even theorized that Jungwirth photoshopped photos to make the toddler look more like the “Walls” crooner.
To make things even more suspicious, TMZ reported back in 2016 that the 28-year-old didn’t get a paternity test to prove he was Freddie’s real dad.
“Tomlinson always copped to the kid being his ever since finding out Briana was pregnant. They started dating about a year ago and we’re told things were so serious initially, he had zero doubt Briana was faithful,” they reported at the time. “While any lawyer would tell Tomlinson to seal the deal with a paternity test … we’re told he’s totally cool with passing.”
So How Does Ashley Calling Freddie Her Nephew Fuel The Rumors?
In a new video posted to TikTok on November 16, 2020, Jungwirth’s cousin, Ashley, called Freddie her nephew. In the clip, she showed cereal spilled all over her room and said, “Moral of the story — this is my nephew and I love him to death, but I am not ready for kids,” before turning the camera to show little Freddie.
OK, so wait… If Freddie was Ashley’s nephew like she said, that would make her Jungwirth’s sister. But we all know that she is Jungwirth’s cousin — not her sibling — which actually makes her Freddie’s first cousin once removed. So why did she call the toddler her nephew and not her cousin?! Well, some fans are convinced it’s because Freddie isn’t really Briana’s kid at all, and they think it’s the babygate proof they’ve been waiting for.
In an exclusive statement from the family, they told us “Yes, [Freddie is her] cousin not nephew,” but did not go into any detail as to why Ashley called him that instead.
What Else Do We Know About Briana Jungwirth?
Just last month, CelebMagazine broke the news that Jungwirth was being sued by her ex-boyfriend Michael Straus, after she allegedly cheated him out of $5,000. Yep, according to Straus, he loaned her the money to pay for her boob job, and two weeks later, she broke up with him, but still took his cash and went through with the surgery. Now he wants it back.
Staus told us that he got close to Jungwirth in December 2018 after they met at the Coachella musical festival. They kept things casual until March 2019, when they officially started dating. They were together for seven months before splitting in October of the same year, but when the coronavirus pandemic hit, they got back in touch.
“We didn’t talk for a few months but I was always worried about her and Freddie, and when COVID started, reached out because I cared about her and Freddie,” he explained. “Throughout March, April and May I voluntarily helped them out. I thought she was this struggling single mom stuck at home having the hardest time. She always said she had asthma, so I even sent her air purifiers. Boy, am I an idiot.”
He told us that he sent Jungwirth “groceries and supplies,” and he even bought Tomlinson’s son a new iPad. But when he realized she was using him, Straus ended the relationship once and for all.
Michael Straus Alleged That Briana Jungwirth Was Living A Double Life
Straus claimed that Jungwirth pretended to be a struggling mom in an attempt to trick him into giving her money.
“I guess when I saw the life she was really living, I had had enough. If she has the time to run around town like a 16 year old showing off the new head light on her car, it’s about time she pays me back,” he explained. “I told her once when I was really upset to forget about the money, but that was when I thought she was struggling, sheltering at home, taking care of Freddie. I had no clue. It made me realize I never really had a clue. That’s the sad outline of the story of Michael and Briana. The whole thing is kind of tragic, because there was a time when we first got together that I was more in love with her than I had ever been with anyone and I know she felt the same. It didn’t last long, but it had its perfect moments. Now I look back at my time with her and feel total disgust, embarrassment, shame and complete disappointment in myself. I allowed her to treat me pretty s**tty. But I know I was good to her and her son and for that I got cracked for $5K.”
He also claimed that she wanted fame and attention online — and would do anything to get it.
Straus added, “I’m the first to admit I’m an idiot and got suckered. Being raised by a single mom myself, I know how hard it was on her son, so I did back flips to make him and her as well happy. Worst mistake of my life. All I want is her to pay me back. She borrowed the money under false pretenses. I thought I was still helping out this struggling single mom and she would pay me back once she was able to save up. Now I come to learn I was actually writing a check every month for her to run around the city, hooking up with anyone she thought might make her relevant in some way and doing anything to get the paparazzi and TMZ to pay attention to her.”
Straus told us that he is sure she has done this before, leading us to wonder — did she use the same tricks with Tomlinson?
“I guess this is a more appropriate look for someone that earns everything dear to themselves while deceitfully lying on their back,” he said. “We were saying we loved each other after four days and were talking marriage almost right away. I guess this is her move. It sure worked on me.”
In the end, however, Straus decided to drop the lawsuit.
Why Do Fans Think Louis Tomlinson And Harry Styles Are Dating?
For those who don’t know, the guys were put into the band (alongside Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik) after auditioning as solo artists on The X Factor. And right away, Styles and Tomlinson instantly hit it off. But when fans started to notice a bunch of cute little interactions and interesting comments made between the two guys online, on stage, in videos and during interviews, theories started to arise that they were more than friends. Now, there are entire Tumblr pages and Twitter accounts dedicated to the rumored relationship — which fans refer to as Larry Stylinson — and over the years, fans have compiled tons of pictures, videos, GIFs, quotes and so many more things that they believe are proof of Styles and Tomlinson’s love.
So where did the speculation begin, you ask? Well, let’s go back to 2012, just after the group released their first album, Up All Night. At the time, reports emerged that claimed the two guys had moved into an apartment together called Princess Park Manor. Now, it’s obviously possible that they lived together as friends, but many fans are convinced this was the first real evidence that something romantic was going on between them.
Plus, after the guys’ show in Wellington, NZ, in April 2012, the two pop stars went out to celebrate. And when a fan took a video of them during their night out and it appeared that they kissed in it, it fueled speculation even more. Unfortunately, the clip is super grainy so it’s hard to tell what really went down in it, but it quickly sent the 1D fandom into a frenzy.
That’s not all. Many fans also believe that Styles and Tomlinson have a few matching tattoos, which they feel is more proof of their relationship. For example, the “Back to You” singer has a dagger tattooed on his left arm, and the “Sign of the Times” musician has rose inked in the exact same spot on his arm. Tomlinson also has a body art that says “Oops!,” while Styles has the word “Hi” tattooed in the same handwriting. And get this — it’s rumored that those were the first words they said to each other!
