BREAKING (UPDATED): One Dead and Several Injured After Car Crashes into Georgia Walmart

UPDATE:

Around 11:45AM on Wednesday, a car driven by suspect Khalil Pugh crashed into the pharmacy side of a Walmart in Thomasville, Georgia.

The crash left one person dead, and one woman seriously injured. The person who died has been identified as Kenneth Kennedy of Monticello, and the woman who was injured has been identified as Erica Lee. 

New details about the incident have emerged since last night.

WSB-TV reports, “Witnesses at the scene reported that Pugh was driving recklessly and at high speeds in a Toyota Camry in the parking lot. Pugh then drove the car into the Walmart’s entrance and hit several people, according to investigators.

Pugh tried to run from the scene, but troopers say several bystanders at the Walmart stopped him from escaping.”

Pugh was taken to a hospital by police, and will be charged with 1st degree vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without a license.

Walmart released a statement about the crash, saying, “We’re heartbroken to learn what has happened, and our sympathies go out to everyone affected. We’ll continue working closely with local law enforcement as they investigate this incident.”

One person is dead Wednesday after a vehicle crashed into a Walmart in Thomasville, Georgia.

Georgia State Patrol says that the vehicle crashed into the Walmart’s pharmacy side, and the driver has since been arrested.

Thomasville Police Department officials are still on the scene and investigating the incident.

A TPD spokesperson said “several people were injured” earlier in the day, but as of now the only confirmed casualty is the person who was killed.

Thomasville is a small town with a population of around 18,000 people in Southern Georgia, about 4 hours south of Atlanta and 45 minutes north of Florida’s capital city, Tallahassee.
