It's a grand picnic event that's so much more; it's also a wine and food festival, celebrating the finer things in life, good food, good fun – and of course, a love of Rosé. Here are the details of the fancy festival you'll want to don your Summer Sunday best for.
Célébrez en Rosé Maryland
Célébrez en Rosé is a Black-owned festival that brings people together to enjoy an atmosphere of celebration and all things Rosé.
Every year, the festival is held in four locations – and the Washington DC branch of the tour kicks off on June 11. Headliners include:
- DJ Jazzy Jeff
- Robin Thicke
- Tamia
- Plus more.
Festival-goers will gather together in DC's National Harbor Southepointe on what just happens to be National Rosé Day, with industry-leading wine and food vendors, as well as a lineup of artists to elevate the picnic atmosphere to something really special. This is not your grandma's picnic – unless your grandma really knows how to throw down a good time.
The festival's website explains its mission; "Célébrez en Rosé (formerly La Fête du Rosé) is a celebration of all things Rosé, including the wines, champagne, and lifestyle. Attendees adorned in their finest pink and white attire will indulge in wine, champagne, frosé and rosé cocktails while enjoying gourmet food pairings, world-class DJs and live music, luxurious VIP experiences, life-sized games, capturing share-worthy moments with large and artfully-designed photo installations along the way and a host of other experiences."
The Heart and History of Célébrez en Rosé
The first iteration of the festival was launched in Atlanta in 2018 by Charles Spears III under the name La Fête du Rosé.
Spears from the beginning intended it to be a hybrid between a music festival and a food and wine festival, celebrating the world's favorite pink wine and bringing together the class and elegance of picnic culture with a celebration.
Attendees must wear pink and white, and the fancier the better. Fine summer fashions are encouraged, including ostentatious headpieces (think the Kentucky Derby or any royal British event) and men are encouraged to wear pastel suits.
Aside from a world-class music lineup, attendees can enjoy premier rosé wine, champagne, and cocktails. Gourmet food vendors from around the world are also offering their best, but attendees can pack their own picnic lunch – just don't bring in any alcohol. Any alcohol must be purchased on site.
This year's four event details:
- Atlanta on May 7, coinciding with Mother's Day. The festival was held at the Historic Fourth Ward Park.
- Houston on May 28. This is the newest addition to the festival family, held at The Water Works at Buffalo Bayou Park on Memorial Day Weekend.
- Washington DC. The next branch of the festival, this June 11 event is just around the corner and occurs on National Rosé Day.
- Chicago on June 25. Held at Burnham Park, this event will celebrate International Rosé Day – making it the perfect end to the festival's annual run.
