A plastic surgeon from Tijuana, Mexico, has come under some serious fire after one of his patients tragically died while going under the knife. The patient, whose name was Keuana Weaver, is said to have had a high heart rate before Dr. Jose Baez performed the surgery, but he went through with it anyway.

“Keuana did not have prior health issues, no prior high blood pressure. Keuana was not smoking or drinking days prior to her surgery. Baez’s cardiologist did not advise against the surgery, which is why Baez proceeded,” a friend of the family wrote on Facebook. “He ran two EKGs on her because she had an elevated heart rate, but they thought it was just due to her being nervous about the surgery. However, Baez still did her surgery knowing she had a BMI of 39! When he flipped her, she went into cardiac arrest. The sweet woman didn’t even make it off the table!”

Dr. Baez, as well as other plastic surgeons in that area — Tijuana is a border city in Mexico, just south of California — are well known for not having BMI restrictions, and for their aggressive techniques. But despite the known-elevated risks, the Tijuana doctors are highly sought after, due to their low prices and proximity to the plastic-surgery-eager SoCal region. Deaths remain rare, and travel to places like Tijuana for surgery remain a cheap, if risky, option.

Weaver’s friend continued, “Please continue to pray for her family, as she had two beautiful daughters.”

It turns out, many big celebrities have been open about getting surgery to alter their appearance over the years, including Kylie Jenner, Chrissy Teigen, Ashley Tisdale and more. Here are all the stars who have admitted to getting work done over the years…

Ashley Tisdale

Ashley Tisdale

Tisdale got a rhinoplasty in 2007, in order to rectify a deviated septum. And she opened up about the procedure in January 2021, and how the hate that she received after getting it affected her.

“In the aftermath and the hardest part, was not the recovery but the media who constantly tried to paint a picture of me as someone who didn’t like their appearance,” the High School Musical alum wrote in a blog post about the experience, adding that she got the surgery because of health concerns, not to change her appearance. “I always wanted to be honest and open about why I did it because I had a young fanbase. Unfortunately, with the public scrutiny, I felt like that was taken away. Not to mention that I was obligated to walk out on stage at a Jingle Ball concert, just two weeks into recovery.”

She continued, “To be clear, it was not about changing my appearance. After several doctor’s visits about my health issues, they also suggested shaving my ‘bump’ down. I was young and didn’t put much thought into it, so I decided, why not? It wasn’t a big deal to me nor was it like I was dreaming of the day I’d get a nose job. On the other hand, I have ZERO judgment towards anyone who does look forward to that day — your body, your choice. “I loved myself, but I was just a very unaware person at that time (as you all have seen my wardrobe choices LOL). I was proud of who I was back then, and still proud now.”

Kylie Jenner

Back in 2016, when asked if she had changed her appearance, the reality star admitted that she had lip fillers. She also said that she was definitely open to getting more surgery in the future.

“As of now, I only have lip fillers… But I’m also someone who says, ‘Never say never.’ If, down the line, I get to a point where I’m really uncomfortable with something on my body, I’m not against changing it,” she explained.

Jenner also told Alure Magazine that she once made her lips too big, and it wasn’t pretty. She explained, “I got excited and felt like I needed to do a lot. And then [my family was] like, ‘Kylie, you need to chill.’ And then I had to go back and have it fixed, and it was a crazy process. Thank God I didn’t end up on Botched.”

Kourtney Kardashian

“I have had breast implants,” Kourtney Kardashian revealed to Nightline in 2010, and she was not ashamed by it. She added, “It’s so funny ’cause it’s not a secret, I could care less.”

Kris Jenner

Kris Jenner admitted to getting a face lift in 2011! She told an Australian radio station, “I did have a little freshening up … Kim [Kardashian] thought my chin was down to my waist. So I had a little lower… they take your chin and pull it up.’”

Khloe Kardashian

During an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Khloe Kardashian revealed that she got facial fillers, but she wasn’t happy with the results. She later explained, “It did not work for me. I looked crazy, and I still think the effects are in there — I went to have it all dissolved like three times.”

Chrissy Teigen

Teigen got her breasts done when she was a young model, and now, she totally regrets it.

“I did my boobs when I was about 20 years old,” she told Glamour U.K. “It was more of a swimsuit thing. I thought, if I’m going to be posing, laid on my back, I want them to be perky! But then you have babies and they fill up with milk and deflate and now I am screwed.”

Jessica And Ashlee Simpson

Jessica Simpson got real about having two tummy tucks in her January 2020 memoir, Open Book.

“I wanted to get rid of the stretch marks and loose skin left sagging from my back-to-back pregnancies,” she wrote. “I was so ashamed of my body at this point that I wouldn’t let Eric see me without a white T-shirt on.”

Her younger sister, Ashlee Simpson, also went under the knife. She confirmed to Us Weekly that she had a nose job, but didn’t share any other details.

Ariel Winter

Ariel Winter admitted that she had breast reduction surgery when she was 17, and it helped boost her confidence a lot.

“On [red carpets], I just said to myself, ‘You have to do your best to look confident and stand up tall, and make yourself look as good as you can in these photos,’ because everyone is going to see them,” she explained to Glamour. “I definitely seemed confident, I’m an actress, that’s what we do. But on the inside, I wasn’t feeling so happy.”

Cardi B

Cardi B got a breast lift and liposuction, and she defended her choices to under the knife during an Instagram Live.

“Listen, I do whatever the f**k I want to do with my body,” she said. “Let me tell you something, b***h. I don’t have the time of day like you do. Like, my job as an entertainer is a 24-hour job, bro. So no, I don’t have time to work out and I wanted specific things that I know that no matter how much I work out ― is not get fixed… Like my boobs, no matter how much I work out, they were not gonna lift themselves. So yeah, I had to get f**king surgery.”

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea confirmed to Seventeen Magazine in 2015 that she had a nose job and a breast augmentation, and she wasn’t ashamed of it!

“I’m not denying it. Denying it is lame,” the rapper told the outlet. “I don’t think you should be ashamed if you made a change to yourself, which is why I’ve spoken about the changes I’ve made, like with my breasts. Plastic surgery is an emotional journey. It’s no easy feat to live with your flaws and accept yourself — and it’s no easy feat to change yourself. Either way you look at it, it’s a tough journey. There are things that I didn’t like about myself that I changed through surgery. There are other things I dislike but I’ve learned to accept.”

Britney Spears

Although she didn’t go into much detail, Britney Spears admitted that she had some work done in 2013. She told InStyle, “A doctor I see, [Beverly Hills plastic surgeon] Dr. [Raj] Kanodia, does fun stuff to me sometimes — I’ve had lip injections before.”

Amanda Bynes

Amanda Bynes explained on Twitter that she was born with “a webbing between her eyes,” which she got surgically removed.

“That was a birth defect that I had surgically removed! I’ve never been more excited! […] Surgery is a complete miracle for me — nothing can hold you back from living out your dreams,” she wrote. “There’s a surgery for everything that’s wrong with you!”

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow admitted that she got botox, and she hated the way it made her look. She told Harper’s Bazaar in 2013, “I would be scared to go under the knife, but you know, talk to me when I’m 50. I’ll try anything. Except I won’t do Botox again, because I looked crazy. I looked like Joan Rivers!”

Victoria Beckham

Victoria Beckham got a boob job, but she later called it a “sign of insecurity.” In a letter to her younger self for British Vogue she wrote, “Just celebrate what you’ve got.”

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman didn’t keep it a secret that she tried botox, but she too didn’t like it.

“I did try Botox, unfortunately, but I got out of it and now I can finally move my face again,” the actress told La Repubblica in 2013.
