What Exactly Will The Reality Show Be About?

Charli and Dixie D'Amelio

According to the New York Post, the upcoming show will follow Charli, her sister, Dixie, her dad, Marc, and her mom, Heidi, as they “navigate their nearly overnight fame and their life in LA.”

“We are excited to be joining the Hulu family with a unique behind-the-scenes look into our life,” Marc said in a press release. “We’ve always been a very close family, but this experience has brought us even closer and we’re really excited to share a glimpse of our lives with the world. Many people create impressions of us based off of short content, a few minutes or even seconds. But now, we’re looking forward to sharing a side that you likely don’t get to see on our social channels.”

There’s no official release date for it just yet, but there will be eight episodes in total and it’ll premiere on Hulu sometime in 2021.

Every teen on social media dreams of becoming famous, but what happens when the reality hits?” VP Documentaries at Hulu, Belisa Balaban, told Deadline about the series. “The D’Amelio Show joins our growing slate of docuseries about the human experience and we’re incredibly excited to partner with the D’Amelio family to offer viewers an authentic look at the complicated lives of these two relatable young women thrust to the top of the social media algorithm.”

What Have Charli And Dixie D’Amelio Said About The New Show?

Back in October, Dixie opened up about the show, and she explained that she didn’t mind having cameras follow her around.

“I feel like it’s going to be nice having cameras that we know are there because sometimes we don’t even know when we’re being filmed,” she explained during a radio interview.

She also told Euphoria, “I think it’s going to be more like, ‘This is our lives and what we do,’ because people don’t get to see that. They just think we make TikToks and sit around all day. It’ll be showing our daily lives, how busy we actually are, what we’re doing. Now that we’re doing the reality show, people are like, ‘Oh, is it going to be like the Kardashians? Are you guys going to be fighting and all this?’ I’m like, ‘Probably not.’ We just want to show our lives.”

Who Exactly Is Charli D’Amelio?

For those who don’t know, at only 16 years old, Charli is the most followed person on TikTok — with over 100 million followers. She has become most known for her amazing dances, and was named the second highest-earning TikTok personality by Forbes and was placed on Fortune‘s 40 Under 40 list in 2020. She also made her acting debut this year, when she starred in the animated flick StarDog and TurboCat. Plus, she has also launched her own nail polish collection, makeup line and sweatshirt collection.

Her sister, Dixie, has also gained an enormous following online. She’s racked up 46 million followers on the video streaming platform and has also starred in the Brat web series Attaway General. She even stepped into the music industry, and released her first single, “Be Happy,” earlier this year. Get this — as of November 2020, the song has accumulated more than 55.6 million streams on Spotify. Wow! Her second tune, “One Whole Day,” came out in December 2020. Plus, she was also featured on Liam Payne‘s song “Naughty List.”

Charli And Dixie D’Amelio Have Also Made Headlines For Their Relationships

The sisters have also made headlines over the years for their relationships. Charli was linked to fellow social media star Chase Hudson in December 2019, after a video of them kissing went viral. After that, they became total couple goals — packing on the PDA in tons of videos, sharing adorable pictures together online and gushing over each other in interviews. But on April 14, 2020, the couple confirmed that they had split via Instagram.

“I decided I needed to tell you all that we are no longer together. It hurts me to say this, but we’ve decided that this is what’s best for the both of us,” Charlie wrote on her Stories. “We are still close friends and I would not change that for anything! I truly have so much love for Chase and with nothing but the best for him!”

As for Dixie, she dated Griffin Johnson, and their relationship may go down in history as one of the messiest of all time. Rumors started swirling that they were a couple in February 2020, but it wasn’t until a few months later, in July 2020, that they officially confirmed the relationship once and for all. The pair later revealed that they dated on and off for six months before they made their relationship official.

They seemed as cute as could be together, until August 2, 2020, when Dixie confirmed that she and Johnson had split in a YouTube video titled, “My Last Date With Griffin.” And it did not end well. In the weeks that followed, the two stars got into a few nasty feuds online, and when Johnson followed someone on Instagram who had called D’Amelio a “hoe” it was the final straw for her.

“I guess the 48 screenshots of cheating during the relationship means nothing,” she allegedly fired back on Instagram. “Slut shame me some more for having friends.”

When alleged screenshots of Johnson messaging girls on Snapchat during his relationship with D’Amelio started to surface online, he took to Twitter to clear the air once and for all, and to apologize to his ex.

“Our relationship was put into the public out of our control and I have been taking heat ever since. It was far from perfect on both sides as everyone has seen in the past week. You can hate me all you want but respect Dixie [and] her decisions as I want nothing but the best for her moving forward,” the 21-year-old wrote on September 1, 2020. “I want to publicly apologize to Dixie for the hurt that I have caused. I am human, I am not proud of some of my choices. I have dealt with a lot of this in an immature manner because honestly, I had no idea what to do. I’m not asking for forgiveness, I just want to cut the bulls**t and let everyone understand my thoughts and know that I am sorry.”

In a recent interview, the influencer insisted that he did not cheat on Dixie. He insisted that when he messaged those girls, it was when he and the 19-year-old were on a break.

“It was like a four or five day period we had broken up and I’m not going to lie, dude, I was just kind of sad,” he said. “It wasn’t me sliding in [to girls’ DMs], it was me answering DMs because I knew it was girls that wanted to talk to me.”

He also admitted that although he did his “fair share of wrongs” during their relationship, he will always have respect for his ex. Now, it appears that Dixie is dating Noah Beck.
