Chef's Table is Back on Netflix with Franco Pepe and a Season Dedicated to America's Favorite - Pizza

Netflix favorite Chef's Table is back with a new season, and this time they're focused on America's favorite food: pizza.

Chef’s Table: Pizza is Here

Season "pizza" is a 6-episode journey through the world of one of the most versatile dishes out there, taking viewers through different chefs' interpretations of the dish including: Franco Pepe (Caiazzo, Italy), Chris Bianco (Phoenix, Arizona, USA), Gabriele Bonci (Rome, Italy), Ann Kim (Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA), Yoshihiro Imai (Kyoto, Japan) and Sarah Minnick (Portland, Oregon, USA).

Dough is in Franco Pepe’s DNA. His grandfather was a baker, his father was a pizzamaker, and he and his brothers followed in the family business. Today, Franco is regarded as one of the greatest pizzaiolos in the world, renowned for his unique, hand-kneaded dough, his creative toppings that celebrate and reinvent classic Italian recipes, and his dedication for elevating the craft of pizza-making.

While many people talk about hamburgers or apple pie as being American food staples, there's nothing quite as ubiquitous in the US as a good local pizza parlor.

Every corner of the country has a different twist on the classic, and the world offers yet more variety to sink your teeth into.

With Chef's Table:Pizza, viewers get a look behind the scenes of what makes an extraordinary pizza dish, and how some of the world's best chefs have created something unique in a heavily saturated market. Make sure you snack on something before you watch though, or your stomach will be rumbling over the TV.

Chef’s Table

Netflix sometimes receives flak for cancelling popular original series, but one that's stuck around and keeps coming back for more is Chef's Table.

First airing in 2015, Chef's Table is a delightful romp around the globe through the kitchens of some of the culinary world's most famous chefs.

Each episode features a different type or genre of food, and each episode focuses on a different chef's spin on that food. It's the perfect way to expand your culinary senses and knowledge, and perhaps branch out and try something new.

The original Chef's Table has six seasons, and there are three spin-off series which include now Pizza, BBQ and Pastry. The series was conceived as a follow-up to director David Gelb's documentary, Jiro Dreams of Sushi. The show is filmed in a way that presents it as a movie rather than reality TV. It feels substantive and thoughtful, and inspires insight into both the lives and creative processes of the chefs featured.

All of the original Chef's Table series and spin-offs are available on Netflix to stream. Jiro Dreams of Shushi can be viewed on Hulu.
