The pressures of looking timeless are overwhelmingly high thanks to social media. Nowadays there's the option to zoom in on every little thing that's shared across the internet, giving trolls the opportunity to tear apart any "imperfection" that they see on someone, celebrities especially. Plastic surgery used to be a secret of the past but is now the talk of the town. From teenagers to adults, aesthetic procedures have become increasingly popular, now more widely accepted than ever before. Check out these celebrities who have been honest about getting cosmetic work done and those who decided to keep away from it.
"Everything about me is fake except my cheeks," pointing to her forehead, nose and lips, Chrissy Teigan revealed, "Fake, fake, fake."
However, in 2021 the model shared to her Instagram Stories a new procedure she had done. "I did that Dr. Diamond buccal fat removal thing here. And since I quit drinking, I’m really seeing the results, and I like it. Yeah, I did it, what?” said Teigan. She captioned the video, "No shame in my dr diamond game." The "buccal fat removal thing" that Teigan had done aims to "thin the cheeks, specifically in the area of the cheek hollows."
The star also previously admitted to having breast implants when she publicly shared getting them removed.
Saying Kim Kardashian and cosmetic procedures has been pretty controversial being that no one truly knows what she has or hasn't done. However, despite what everyone thinks, Kardashian said in July 2022 that she hasn't done much altering of her face. She shared with Allure, “A little bit of Botox. But I’ve chilled, actually." She continued, "I’ve never had eyelash extensions. I’ve never done anything. I have a drop of mascara on today. I’ve never filled my cheeks. I’ve never filled my lips.”
She explained to Allure, “I care. I really, genuinely care about looking good. I probably care more than 90 percent of the people on this planet. It’s not easy when you’re a mom and you’re exhausted at the end of the day or you’re in school, and I’m all of the above. I do my beauty treatments usually late at night. After everyone’s in bed, I’m doing laser treatments.”
As for her body, Kim claims to have an awesome fitness trainer and proper diet.
In July 2021, the famous fashion designer shared his facelift on Instagram. He captioned a photo of his face wrapped in bandages, "Yesterday," with the hashtags #f*ckgravity and #livelovelift.
The designer talked about his journey into plastic surgery with Vogue stating, “I started many years ago." He continued, "I mean, there have been so many things that I’ve been transparent about. Like, once when I went to an event with a baseball cap, and people asked me, ‘Why are you wearing a baseball cap?’ And I said, ‘Well, I just had a hair transplant.’ People were amused and amazed that I answered.”
Jacobs went on to explain, “But, honestly, what’s the difference? I’m not covering my face. I’m not wearing sunglasses. I’m not incognito. I’ve got some scars around my ears, and my face is swollen, and I have a bruised neck, but I’m still posting on Instagram. I don’t care. I don’t even see it as an effort to be transparent. I’m doing what I normally do, which is I’m living my life and sharing it with anybody who is interested.”
Khloe Kardashian is often under fire for changing her face or getting too thin. And, it wasn't until the Keeping Up With the Kardashians reunion in June 2021 that she spoke out about it.
She told the host, Andy Cohen, “For me, everyone says, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s had her third face transplant.’ But I’ve had one nose job — Dr. Raj Kinodia — and everyone gets so upset, like, ‘Why don’t I talk about it?' No one’s ever asked me. You’re the first person in an interview that’s ever asked me about my nose. I’ve done, sure, injections — not really Botox. I’ve responded horribly to Botox.”
Heidi Montag Pratt
Heidi Montag Pratt decided to be one and one. And no, not one procedure, just one day. Yep. The reality TV star had 10 procedures done in the same day back in 2010, at the age of 23. She had a nose job revision, mini brow-lift, breast augmentation revision, liposuction and chin reduction. Initially, when she had procedures done, she told People Magazine that she hadn't ever felt "more beautiful and sexier." But, all of that cosmetic work didn't age well, which she later admitted to being "too young" to make such a drastic decision over her looks.
"I was way too young to make such a life-changing decision and was under so much pressure because it was the beginning of comment sections and negativity and hate on the internet." She continued, "I was just really self-involved at the time — like so many young people — but I was also on TV, where every perceived flaw is amplified. I think I looked in the mirror a little too much. I wish I had waited and not made a decision so young because I have long-term health complications."
"People have actually accused me of work," Busy Phillips shared. However, she revealed that she's had "no botox, no fillers."
During her appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she said, "I get disappointed when very young women start to f— with their faces." She further explained, "My face as a teenager and my face today is totally different because of having children, the hormones, losing and gaining weight, working out. Structurally, I can’t even explain to you how different I look now."
But all in all, Phillips has not judgement towards women who do ultimately decide to get work done.
On her show, Drew Barrymore shared her plans to age naturally. "I've never done anything to my face, and I would like to try to not to. Never say never. The thing that I do care about and I do feel is still relevant to my life is the face. I know myself. I'm a highly addictive person. I do one injection, [and] I'm going to look like Jocelyn Wildenstein by Friday."
"We're going to age, things are going to go south, and it's OK. It's a part of life," said Barrymore.
Megan Fox is in full support of women deciding to alter their body in any way, however, she recommends therapy before running to a surgeon.
The actress told Allure in 2010, "I would encourage anyone to first speak with a therapist, to try and figure out where this want comes from, because a lot of times it’s not related to your teeth or your nose or your chin. The surgery is not going to alleviate that insecurity for you."
"If, then, you feel, 'This is something that I want to do,' then do it. It’s amazing that we have the technology to do the stuff that we do."
