This week, Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend shared the most tragic news imaginable: they had experienced a pregnancy loss. Their baby son, Jack, passed away despite every effort to save him. Now that the couple has opened up about their loss, Teigen’s mom Vilailuck is also sharing her heart ache over the stunning loss.
Chrissy and John Share the Heartbreaking News
On Tuesday, Teigen worried fans after tweeting, “Just had a really scary morning. huge clot, almost save-worthy. The scramble to hear the heartbeat seemed like hours. I never thought I’d relief sigh so much in my liiiiife.”
Unfortunately, Teigen’s relief was short-lived. The mother-of-three was rushed to the hospital and on Wednesday night, she shared the heartbreaking news that the baby had been lost.
Teigen tweeted, “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.
We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had stated to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.”
The grief-stricken mother continued, “To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.
Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you.
We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. on this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.”
Teigen’s Mother Speaks Out
In the days following the tremendous loss, Teigen’s mother Vilailuck has broken her silence on her grief. People shares, “The matriarch opened up about the loss of her grandson — whom the family named Jack — in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Thursday, sharing photos and video of herself saying her final goodbyes at the hospital.
‘My heart aches love you so much baby Jack ❤️❤️,’ she wrote in the caption, alongside the hashtag ‘สู่สุขตินะลูก,’ which translates from Thai to English as, ‘To happiness.’”
The Loss of a Child Goes Beyond Mother and Father
When a couple loses a child, the grief and heartache never stop with them. Often times, entire families are rocked by the loss. Teigen’s two young children won’t welcome their little brother, and Vilailuck won’t get to watch Jack grow.
