The Coachella X Frank Ocean drama from weekend one continues. The famed singer reportedly sustained two fractures and a sprain in his left leg forcing him to drop out of his headlining position.

TMZ reported that Ocean hurt his ankle on the festival grounds leading up to his highly anticipated performance which forced the last-minute set changes. This news could explain his performance’s late start, awkward pauses, and other disappointing aspects that left fans underwhelmed. Not to mention his abrupt ending due to curfew.

Yesterday, Ocean’s rep provided a statement to TMZ“After suffering an injury to his leg on festival grounds in the week leading up to weekend 1, Frank Ocean was unable to perform the intended show but was still intent on performing, and in 72 hours, the show was reworked out of necessity.”

They continued, “On doctor’s advice, Frank is not able to perform weekend 2 due to two fractures and a sprain in his left leg.”

Ocean himself spoke on the incidents of the event to fans saying, “It was chaotic. There is some beauty in chaos. It isn’t what I intended to show but I did enjoy being out there and I’ll see you soon.”

No pun intended.

What should have been a magical evening of fans connecting through the heartfelt lyrics and deep emotions of Frank Ocean became a short hour with an abrupt ending at 12:20 AM due to the California curfew.

Directly after a song, Ocean came on the mic saying, “Guys, I’m being told it’s curfew, so that’s the end of the show. Thank you so much.”

The baseline of the story is that the set started an hour late, therefore, ran late and was forced to end early because it was running past the curfew that the festival was allowed.

So, Who’s Up Next?

Given the fact that people sell their limbs to attend an event as big as Coachella, they obviously had to find a new headliner that would attract festival-goers.

Blink-182 hosted a surprise set at Coachella weekend one that received a response from fans earning themselves a headlining spot to close out weekend two.

The band “wasted no time reembracing the juvenile, fun, ridiculous double-time punk-pop that made them breakthrough radio stars in the late ‘90s and early aughts,” Variety‘s review says. “The band shared the same Jackass-style ease they did 20 years ago in their prime, with DeLonge and [bassist Mark] Hoppus cracking wise about genitals, the Dalai Llama, and UTIs as they blasted through their set.”

Although many fans were excited to see what Ocean would show up with for weekend two, Coachella will still go out on a high note.
