And now, McGregor is telling you to ditch the cans of beer and hard seltzer for something more exciting and refreshing. The UFC champion put together delicious summer cocktails, using his Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey (of course), with the intention to shake up your tastebuds and make them smile the sun outside.

Summer Cocktails You Can’t Miss Out On

Proper Peaches

  • 2 parts Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
  • 1/2 part simple syrup
  • 1 peach, diced
  • 3-4 mint leaves
  • Splash of soda water

Directions: Muddle peaches, simple syrup & mint leaves in a shaker. Add Proper No. Twelve and fill shaker with ice. Strain into rocks glass over fresh ice. Top with a splash of soda water. Garnish with mint leaves and a peach slice

Proper Palmer

  • 2 parts Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
  • 2 parts Lemonade
  • 2 parts Iced Tea

Directions: Pour Proper No. Twelve over ice. Add lemonade and iced tea. Stir. Garnish with lemon slice.

Proper Bloody Mary

  • 1.5 parts Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
  • 3 parts Tomato Juice
  • 1/3 part Lemon Juice
  • 4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 bar spoon Pickle Juice
  • 1/2 bar spoon Horseradish
  • Squeeze of Lime Juice
  • 1 pinch Celery Salt or Table Salt
  • 1 pinch Ground Black Pepper
  • Directions: Add all ingredients to a shaker and fill with ice. Shake and strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a celery stalk, lemon wedge, and olives.

Proper Iced Coffee

  • 1 part Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
  • 4 parts Cold Coffee
  • Milk or creamer of choice
  • Sweetener of choice

Directions: Fill glass with ice. Add Proper No. Twelve and cold coffee. Add creamer and sweetener to taste. Stir to combine.

Proper Mule

  • 2 oz Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
  • .5 oz lime juice
  • 3 oz ginger beer
  • Lime wedge

Directions: Add ice to copper mug. Add Proper No. Twelve Whiskey, lime juice and ginger beer to the glass. Garnish with a lime wedge.

Proper Craic Water

  • 2 oz Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
  • 1 oz Coconut Water
  • Juice of Half a Lime
  • Mineral Water

Directions: Build in highball glass over ice. Top w/ Mineral Water. Garnish w/ Lime Wedge

Proper Summer Punch

  • 375ml Bottle of Proper No. Twelve
  • 3/4 cup Lemonade
  • 1/2 cup Lemon Juice
  • 1 cup Red Wine
  • 3/4 cup Seltzer
  • 2 Lemons, sliced into wheels
  • Mint Leaves

Directions: Combine Ingredients, shake or stir, serve over ice

The Proper Whiskey Barbecue Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Proper No. Twelve Whiskey
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tbsp Onion Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Salt
  • 3 cups Ketchup
  • 1/3 cup Cider Vinegar
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup Packed Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 tsp Hot Pepper Sauce

Directions: Bring it to a boil in a sauce pot. Let it simmer for 20 minutes. Serve.

Proper Peppercorn Steak Sauce

  • 2 tbsp Proper No. Twelve Irish Whiskey
  • 1 tbsp cracked black peppercorns
  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped
  • 1 large clove of garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3/4 cup beef broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • Worcestershire sauce (optional)


  1. Cook steak to your liking, then remove and cover while you make the sauce.

  2. Add peppercorns to the same pan used to cook the steak and heat for 1-2 min.

  3. Add shallots, garlic and 1 tbsp butter. Sauté over medium heat until shallots soften.

  4. Add Proper No. Twelve Whiskey and bring to a simmer for 1-2 minutes. Deglaze the pan by stirring with a wooden spoon, incorporating any remaining bits from the steak.

  5. Add the beef stock and bring to high heat. Reduce the sauce by half (4-5 minutes).

  6. Mix in heavy cream and simmer for 1-2 minutes, stirring continuously.

  7. Remove from heat, add remaining butter and whisk for 1-2 minutes. Salt to taste. Optional: Add any juice from resting steak and a dash of Worcestershire sauce.

  8. Pour over steaks and serve—pairs best with a Proper on the Rocks!
