Can we all take a moment to imagine how iconic it would be if Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande teamed up for a song together? They’re two of the most talented singers and songwriters in the industry, so if they collaborated it would seriously be a dream come true, right?! Well guys, you might want to brace yourselves because that dream is about to become a reality! Yep, the stars just teased a new song together, and we are seriously freaking out about it.

What Do We Know About Their New Song?

It all started when Grande shared a snippet of herself singing to her Instagram Stories, and captioned it, “Backgrounds on a song for a friend.” Then, Lovato reposted the video and added some eye emojis. And when a fan asked the “Sober” songstress if the former Victorious star was the “last minute collab she was talking about,” she replied with a smiley face!

For those who forgot, they both share the same manager now — Scooter Braun — who signed with Lovato in May 2019.

“Dreams came true for me. I officially have a new manager. And not just any manager but the one and only Scooter Braun,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Couldn’t be happier, inspired and excited to begin this next chapter. Demi Lovato And Ariana Grande Have Wanted To Collab For A Long Time

It turns out, this musical collab has been a long time coming! Yep, in an old interview, Lovato actually admitted that Grande would be her dream person to work with.

“I wish that I had done a song with Ariana actually, because we’ve been talking about doing a song together for a long time, but finding the right song for two girls to sing is really difficult,” she said. “And so, it hasn’t come together yet, but hopefully in the future.”

Plus, back in May 2013, after the Nickelodeon actress’ brother Frankie Grande made a mashup of her song “The Way” and Lovato’s “Heart Attack,” Lovato tweeted that they should work together, and Grande responded with, “I’m in!” It looks like these ladies have wanted to make a song together for years now, and we’re so glad it’s finally happening!

The Two Stars Had Some Drama In 2017

Back in 2017, fans started to speculate that Grande and Lovato weren’t friends anymore after the pop star hosted the Manchester Benefit Concert to honor the victims of the tragic bombing at her Manchester concert, and didn’t invite Lovato. When asked by a fan on Instagram why she didn’t attend the event, Lovato fired back, “’Cause I wasn’t asked.”

But things seemed to be all good between them again one year later. How do we know? Well, Billboard asked her about their friendship, she gushed, “When Ariana Grande and I hang out, it’s super chill. One time I went over to her place. She had never heard of the Charles Manson murders. We were spooking ourselves out!”

And when Lovato suffered from a nearly-fatal overdose in July 2018, Grande showed her support online.

“I love you @ddlovato,” she tweeted.

Now, They’re Super Close

In February 2019, a fan called Grande out online for not tweeting about Lovato’s new music, but she let every one know that she had her bestie’s back.

“I talk to her everyday you psycho,” she replied.

She added, “So much happens off the internet and it’s all so much love too! You’d all be so happy to know that.”

Since then they have continuously supported each other online and have hung out numerous times, so it seems like they’re as close as could be!

Get this, you guys — Lovato revealed last month that her upcoming album will come out sometime in 2021, and we can’t wait.

“The tea is … I am releasing an album and a documentary next year,” she said during an appearance on the “(Re)Session” podcast. “I’ve been working on this album since 2018 and my life has taken so many twists and turns since then, and it’s changed the direction, the sound, the story … I’m really excited to release all of this new music.”

And it sound like the brunette isn’t going to hold back on the new album! How do we know? Well, back in 2019, she wrote on her Instagram Stories, “You know what’s great about making an album? You get to say anything you want, be as open and honest as possible and finally tell your side of the story regardless of who might not like it.” Yes, please!
