According to a press release, the former Disney star will “open up about every aspect that led to her nearly-fatal overdose in 2018, and her awakenings in the aftermath as viewers are granted unprecedented access to the superstar’s personal and musical journey over the past three years, including footage from when the initial production for this project began during Lovato’s 2018 Tell Me You Love Me World Tour.”
“It’s been two years since I came face-to-face with the darkest point in my life, and now I’m ready to share my story with the world,” the “Sober” songstress added in the press release. “For the first time, you’ll be able to see my chronicle of struggle and ongoing healing from my point of view. I’m grateful that I was able to take this journey to face my past head-on and finally share it with the world.”
When Will It Come Out?

Billboard reported that the first two episodes of the four-part series will premiere for free on March 23, 2021, on Lovato’s YouTube channel. The next episodes will be released weekly on the following two Tuesdays. And get this — Lovato teamed up with Michael D. Ratner for the show, who has previously worked on tons of other docu-series — including Justin Bieber‘s!
“Demi’s willingness to explore the darkest elements of her life is going to leave the audience with a complete understanding of everything she’s been through and ultimately where she is going,” he said about the upcoming project. “Demi stands for empowerment, and this documentary is going to answer the many questions that have been out there — providing a real window into the life of one of the biggest stars in the world, who is simply a human being.”
What Do We Know About Demi Lovato’s Overdose So Far?

Fans we so worried when news hit the web that the actress had been rushed to the hospital July 24, 2018, after she suffered from an apparent drug overdose and was found unconscious inside her Hollywood Hills home. At the time, the Los Angeles Fire Department confirmed to CNN that they received a call at 11:22 A.M. that day for a medical emergency and transported a 25-year-old woman to a hospital. Then, a senior law enforcement official told the outlet that Lovato was at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where she was stable, conscious and breathing.
“I want to thank God for keeping me alive and well. I have always been transparent about my journey with addiction. What I’ve learned is that this illness is not something that disappears or fades with time. It is something I must continue to overcome and have not done yet,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.
After the scary incident, the Camp Rock alum checked herself into rehab, where she stayed for three months.
What Has Demi Lovato Previously Said About Her Addiction?

The brunette beauty has been pretty open about her struggles with addiction, mental health issues and eating disorders over the years.
“I was going to the airport and I had a Sprite bottle just filled with vodka. It was just 9 in the morning, and I was throwing up in the car, and this was just to get on a plane to go back to L.A. to the sober living house that I was staying at,” Lovato recalled in 2013 about when she was at her worst. “I had all the help in the world, but I didn’t want it.”
“I’d be lying if I said there weren’t days where I just want to stay in bed all day because I’m ashamed of my body,” she also told People Magazine. “It’s a struggle I’ll probably have to deal with for the rest of my life. But I have so much life to live; I don’t want to waste it.”
What Else Has Demi Lovato Been Up To Recently?

Besides the docu-series, fans also have a new album to look forward to from Lovato! Yep, she revealed last month that her upcoming LP will come out sometime in 2021, and we can’t wait.
“The tea is … I am releasing an album and a documentary next year,” she said during an appearance on the “(Re)Session” podcast. “I’ve been working on this album since 2018 and my life has taken so many twists and turns since then, and it’s changed the direction, the sound, the story … I’m really excited to release all of this new music.”
And it sound like Lovato isn’t going to hold back on the new album! How do we know? Well, back in 2019, she wrote on her Instagram Stories, “You know what’s great about making an album? You get to say anything you want, be as open and honest as possible and finally tell your side of the story regardless of who might not like it.” Yes, please!
Is She Dating Anyone At The Moment?

Nope, the 27-year-old is currently enjoying the single life, following her split from Max Ehrich.
“The best part about being single is knowing that my happiness is coming from no other person than myself,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories a few weeks ago.
For those who missed it, Lovato and Ehrich were first spotted cozying up in March 2020, and a few months later, they announced that they were engaged! Although they seemed as happy as could be together, in September 2020, news hit the web that they had broken up. And when the whirlwind romance came to an end, it wasn’t pretty. Get this — the High School Musical 3 star actually took to his Instagram Stories to address the breakup news, and he claimed that he found out that their engagement was over from articles he read online.
“Imagine finding out… the status of your relationship through a tabloid,” he wrote. “While you’re in the middle of filming a biopic movie about a pastor in a Christian church whose intention of the film is to help people.”
