Wow, talk about no chill! Demi Lovato just dropped a surprise new song seemingly about her recent split from Max

Wow, talk about no chill! Demi Lovato just dropped a surprise new song seemingly about her recent split from Max Ehrich, and we broke down all the shady lyrics for you.
The new track, called “Still Have Me,” came out on Wednesday, September 30, just hours after the singer had tweeted that she was going to release some new music.
“Music is always there for me… Song in the A.M.,” she wrote on Twitter the night before it hit streaming platforms.
So is the track definitely about Ehrich? What does she say about him in the lyrics? And what exactly went down between them? Here’s everything you need to know…
What Is ‘Still Have Me’ About?
The emotional piano balled is all about learning to get over heartbreak and finding strength within yourself to move on..
“I’m a mess and I’m still broken / But I’m finding my way back / And it feels like someone’s stolen / All the light I ever had,” the powerful lyrics read. “Like the world disappeared / And I’m laying right here / While the silence is piercing / And it hurts to breathe / I don’t have much but at least I still have me (I still have me) / And that’s all I need / So take my faith but at least I still believe (I still believe) / And that’s all I need.”
So Is It About Ehrich?
Well, until the “Sober” songstress confirms anything, it’s all speculation for now, but based off the timing of the release, many fans are convinced that it’s about the actor. For those who missed it, news hit the web that Lovato and Ehrich had split on September 23, 2020 — just one week before “Still Have Me” came out.
“It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers,” a source close to the pair told People Magazine about the split. “They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together.”
What Have The Stars Said About Their Breakup?
The Camp Rock alum has not spoken out about the split directly, but Ehrich had a lot to say about it. He took to his Instagram Stories to address the breakup news, and he claimed that he found out that their engagement was over from articles he read online.
“Imagine finding out… the status of your relationship through a tabloid,” he wrote. “While you’re in the middle of filming a biopic movie about a pastor in a Christian church whose intention of the film is to help people.”
But a source told People Magazine, “Demi made Max aware that the relationship was over and it was going to come out in the press.”
Then, the High School Musical 3 star doubled down on his claims.
“I was on the set of my new movie, Southern Gospel, with crew and cast members right next to me who literally watched me open my phone where I then opened a tabloid,” he wrote in another Instagram Stories post. “This is the God’s honest truth of how I found out about the ending of my engagement and have people from my film who saw the whole thing go down and helped me get back into character to continue my job.”
He also shared a screenshot of a text message he had sent to someone that read, “To find out over the internet was beyond anything I could’ve ever imagined a person could do to another human.”
How Is Lovato Holding Up Now?
According to Us Weekly, the former Disney actress is feeling positive, despite splitting from her fiancé.
“Demi’s feeling a sense of relief after seeing Max’s true colors,” a source told them. “She’s in a really good place and already jumping right back into work and spending time with friends and family.”
As for Ehrich, an insider claimed that he wasn’t doing as well. They explained, “Max just went through a major breakup, he is heartbroken. He’s not responding to friends again and he is in a fragile state. The posts he is making are not painting a picture of who Max really is.”
What Exactly Went Wrong Between Them?
Things seemed to turn sour between the pair after alleged screenshots of old tweets posted by Ehrich long before he started dating Lovato surfaced online. The messages allegedly showed him seemingly gushing over Lovato’s ex-best friend Selena Gomez. One seemingly read, “Hahaha Selena Gomez and Demi are cute together, but boy, if you think Demi is prettier…You’re WRONG!”
At the time, Lovato claimed that the messages were not real. She took to her Instagram Stories to clear the air, writing, “It’s really sad when people FAKE images to put women against each other…If women have conflict that’s between them NOT YOU.”
“While on one hand, I understand and have compassion for those who are so horrified at the reality of 2020 that they gotta distract themselves with doctored images in order to not focus on how bad these times are — but on the other hand, if you aren’t 13 years old trying to grasp the reality of right now, put on your adult underpants and write about what actually matters. Please,” she added.
But sources told E! News that she was “really upset” about the entire situation.
“She is head over heels for Max and doesn’t want to be heartbroken,” the insider added. “She truly cares about Max and wants to think his intentions are genuine. People close to Demi have expressed that they are worried and are hesitant about Max.”
When Did Ehrich And Lovato Start Dating?
Fans first started to speculate that something was going on between the two stars in March 2015, after they were photographed spending some time together in Los Angeles, CA. In the weeks that followed, they left a few flirty comments for each other on social media, and the singer even made a surprise appearance during one of Ehrich’s Instagram Lives! Yeah, it was clear that they were spending a lot of time together. Then, on March 30, 2020, Lovato seemingly confirmed the relationship once and for all when she commented, “My angels,” on a picture that Ehrich had shared of himself and Lovato’s dog.
After that, they definitely weren’t afraid to show off their love! They both posted so many adorable pictures together and gushed over each other online nonstop, and everyone was living for it. The 28-year-old even said she “loved” Ehrich on May 25, 2020.
“I now spend my days in a bathing suit with no makeup with someone who accepts and loves me for who I am, flaws and all,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories, alongside a cute selfie of them. “I love you @MaxEhrich.”
Then, the couple announced their engagement on July 23, 2020.
“I knew I loved you the moment I met you. It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn’t experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too… I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all,” Lovato gushed on Instagram. “You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself. I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!”
Ehrich added in his own post, “You are every love song, every film, every lyric, every poem, everything I could ever dream of and then some in a partner in life. Words cannot express how infinitely in love with you I am forever and always and then some. I cannot spend another second of my time here on Earth without the miracle of having you as my wife. Here’s to forever baby. I’m so excited you are the most beautiful inside and out in the entire world and I couldn’t be more grateful. God brought us together I LOVE YOU SO MUCH @ddlovato AND WILL FOREVER CHERISH YOUR PURE, BEAUTIFUL, INFINITE SOUL.”
We really thought these two were going to be together forever.
