Amber Heard made claims to her therapist that Aquaman 2 co-star Jason Momoa tried to get under her skin by dressing like her estranged ex, Johnny Depp. While speaking with her counselor, Heard made other claims about Momoa’s behavior while on the set. However, representatives for Momoa, along with colleagues, are pushing back on Heard’s declarations. Here’s what Heard had to say about Momoa. And what people are saying in response.
Aquaman 2 Off To Rocky Start
It’s no secret that Marvel Comics has outperformed DC Comics in the cinematic world. Not only has Marvel created a far more comprehensive and growing film universe, but the films simply do better at the box office. Aquaman is one franchise where DC hopes to seize on its lead actor’s popularity and compete in the comic film arena. Unfortunately for DC, Aquaman 2 is off to a rough start.
Variety reports that during filming, Amber Heard was nearly fired from her role as titular star Jason Momoa’s love interest. According to legal documents released during Heard’s lengthy court battle with Johnny Depp, film director James Wan soured on bringing Heard back for the second film. He seemed to worry about Heard’s lack of chemistry with Momoa, and her public image following the battle with Depp. Heard’s role was on the chopping block.
That is until Elon Musk stepped in. Musk and Heard were once an item, and it would seem that he still cares for her. Musk reportedly sent a “scorched-earth letter to Warner Bros. threatening to burn the house down” if they fired Heard. Whether they changed their mind because of the letter or for other reasons, Heard was retained in her role.
But just when things could have settled down and the film could have gotten its legs under it, things got worse. On the same September day that Warner Bros dropped its trailer for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, those aforementioned court documents made the rounds on Reddit.

In those documents were notes from Amber Heard’s therapist. The notes were obtained during Heard’s battle with Depp and leaked online. Heard’s team fought the inclusion of the notes at trial but ultimately lost.
In the notes, Heard accused Jason Momoa of being intoxicated on set. And worse, he was pushing to get her fired, according to Heard. The notes read in part, “Jason said he wanted me fired.” They continue, “Jason drunk — late on set. Dressing like Johnny. Has all the rings too.”
But a representative for Momoa dismissed the claims outright. While the representative did not release a statement, Variety reports that they said, “Jason Momoa conducted himself in a professional manner at all times on the set of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.”And a source who worked on the set in London in 2021 agreed, saying, “Jason works his a– off, likes to have a beer once in a while like everyone, but doesn’t show up drunk to set.”
This battle over Amber Heard‘s disagreement with coworkers seems to be exactly the kind of publicity that James Wan feared. But it will take more than a therapist’s notes to tarnish Jason Momoa‘s reputation with fans. For now, it’s just more bluster and noise. At exactly the wrong time for Aquaman 2.
