Panicked Donald Trump Tries Whipping Followers into Frenzy: ‘THEY’RE COMING FOR YOU!’

Donald Trump was having a good week.
Poll numbers in a hypothetical match-up between the former POTUS and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis were turning in Trump’s favor, and it seemed like he was getting a little bit of breathing room from a bevy of criminal and civil battles breathing down his neck.
However, Thursday took a turn for the worse.
The US Department of Justice rejected a claim from Trump’s legal team that would grant him legal immunity from being sued by law enforcement officers and their families who were affected by the riots on January 6, 2021.
Now, Trump is open to a whole new host of lawsuits – and he’s furious about it.

Trump Loses January 6 Immunity Bid
Whenever Donald Trump perceives a threat, he turns first to his followers for defense.
On January 6, 2021, the House committee investigating says he used those followers to try to reclaim the Presidency after he lost the election.
Trump called his followers to Washington, then stood before them and delivered an electrifying speech promising the end of all things if they didn’t stand up and fight.
Trump is now trying to spin history, to wash his hands of what happened next, and say that all he did was ask for peaceful protest, despite the enormous amount of evidence the J6 committee was able to compile.
And in the same breath he says he would never whip a mob to violence, he seems to be trying to do it again – this time, because lawsuits are breathing down his neck.
On Thursday, Reuters reported, “The U.S. Justice Department on Thursday urged an appeals court to reject former President Donald Trump’s claim that he is automatically immune from lawsuits over his supporters’ assault on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit had asked for the Justice Department’s view as it weighs whether to allow civil lawsuits against Trump over the riot.
Trump has argued that he was acting in his official capacity as president when he told a crowd of supporters he would never concede the 2020 election and to ‘fight like hell’ ahead of the congressional certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral victory.”
Trump released a statement in the wake of the DOJ’s decision, blasting the idea that presidents don’t get immunity for “catastrophes they potentially may not be responsible for.”
Donald Trump Tries to Whip Followers into a Frenzy
And, in the wake of that news, a furious Trump took to Truth Social to try to convince people that all of this isn’t really an assault on him – it’s an assault on them.
It’s a tactic he’s used before – namely on January 6 itself – and seems to be employing again with zero sense of irony.
Trump wrote on Truth, “THEY’RE NOT COMING FOR ME, THEY’RE COMING FOR YOU — I’M JUST IN THEIR WAY!!!”
If that doesn’t scare people into a violent frenzy, it’s hard to imagine what would.
Although this time it’s not having the same effect.
Even Trump diehards seem tired after years of nonstop controversy and tension, and the response this time was less than overwhelming.
Trump’s best defense is proving that he’s not responsible for his followers’ actions on January 6 – but comments like this seem to prove exactly the opposite.
