According to a recent report from CNN, Donald Trump’s legal team has been unable to locate a classified document mentioned in a recording of a conversation from 2021.

That recording is now in the possession of prosecutors. The 2021 recording captured the former POTUS admitting that he possessed a classified Pentagon document that detailed a potential attack on Iran.

When CNN first unveiled the existence of this recording earlier this week, experts immediately began speculating as to exactly how impactful it would be to the overall investigation into Trump’s handling of classified docs.

Now, with additional information from two sources, CNN reports that when Trump’s attorneys turned over materials in response to a federal subpoena related to the investigation, they were unable to find the specific document mentioned in the recording.

The subpoena requested “any and all” documents and materials connected to Mark Milley, who served as Trump’s chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as well as any materials pertaining to Iran, including invasion plans or maps.

The sources reveal that despite the extensive search conducted by Trump’s legal team, the document in question could not be located.

According to those close to the situation, prosecutors have made it clear that they want the exact document being discussed in the tape recording.

Trump’s team has asserted that all classified materials retained by the former POTUS after he left office have been returned. But the new recording and the absence of the document mentioned therewithin casts doubt on what Trump’s team is saying about everything being turned over.

On Friday, news broke that Mike Pence would not be charged over classified documents that he improperly stored after leaving office.

And Trump immediately turned to Truth Social with his frustration.

Trump wrote on Truth early Friday, “Just announced that they are not going to bring charges against Mike Pence on the document hoax. That’s great, but when am I going to be fully exonerated, I’m at least as innocent as he is. And what about Joe Biden, who is hiding at least 1850 boxes, and some located in Chinatown, DC? When will the witch hunt against ‘TRUMP’ stop?”

Trump’s complaints about the two cases highlight how little understanding he has of the differences between them.

In the case of Mike Pence, Pence’s team immediately complied with DOJ requests to turn over documents and provide access.

Trump’s team seems to have lied and potentially obstructed the FBI and DOJ as they attempted to recover documents.

As the Department of Justice hunts for this elusive document, it’s become quite clear that there’s more to the story than the public is aware of.

Multiple political and legal experts have suggested that this particular investigation holds the most peril for Trump, and with every news story about the case, that becomes more and more obvious.
