Today, in a historic and grim occasion for the United States, Donald Trump will be arraigned on what’s expected to be 34 felony counts.

It’s the first time a former POTUS has been criminally charged, and lurches the US into uncharted waters.

But while Trump is preparing to turn himself in this afternoon and face the judge to hear what he’s accused of, things are getting a little weird on Truth Social.

Donald Trump’s Obsession with the Wives of his Rivals

Trump obsessing over the wives of rivals is nothing new.

In the past, he’s been criticized for insulting the looks of the wife of Senator Ted Cruz, hurling racist epithets at the wife of Senator Mitch McConnell, and making misogyny part of his political attack brand.

But he’s on thin ice these days, now obsessing over the wives of rivals who aren’t political, but rather legal.

Yesterday, Trump wrote on Truth, “Wow! District Attorney Bragg just illegally LEAKED the various points, and complete information, on the pathetic Indictment against me. I know the reporter and so, unfortunately, does he. This means that he MUST BE IMMEDIATELY INDICTED. Now, if he wants to really clean up his reputation, he will do the honorable thing and, as District Attorney, INDICT HIMSELF. He will go down in Judicial history, and his Trump Hating wife will be, I am sure, very proud of him!”

Trump didn’t stop there, zeroing in on another target’s wife. He wrote on Truth late yesterday, “Speaking of LEAKS, Special ‘Prosecutor’ Jack Smith (What did his name used to be?) leaked massive amounts of information to The Washington ComPost. This is illegal, and I assume this Radical Left Lunatic, much to the chagrin of his Trump Hating wife and family, will be PROSECUTED? He is a totally biased Thug who should be let loose on the Biden Documents hidden in Chinatown, and the 1,850 BOXES secretly stored in Delaware, which Biden REFUSES to give up. Biden is guilty of Obstruction, I am not!”

Trump’s obsession with insulting the wives of rivals is his way of hitting them where it hurts personally without coming after them directly. It’s a shot across the bow of sorts; a warning that he’s circling them like a shark, but he’ll come in for the bite if he needs to. It’s a tactic the former POTUS has employed many times before, but this time he could land himself in hot water.

If he’s seen as personally attacking the prosecutors or trying to interfere in the legal system he’s now fully embroiled in, he could face stiff penalties or even jail time.

And these attacks will likely stop once the judge gets a gag order in place – although the POTUS could opt to ignore it.

What Happens for Trump Today After Turning Himself In?

According to reports, once Trump submits himself for arrest, a few things will happen.

Contrary to prior reports, he will not receive a mugshot.

He will not be handcuffed.

But he will be fingerprinted, booked, and brought before Judge Juan Merchan to hear the 34 counts he’s reportedly accused of – all of which are felonies.

It seems likely that Merchan will slap a gag order on the FPOTUS, and multiple violations of that expected gag order could bring jail time for the former President.

He will likely be sent home to await trial, with a few conditions set around his freedom.

And then, it’s a waiting game.

The trial will almost certainly need to conclude before the 2024 presidential season kicks off officially late this year, so the timetable the country can expect should be a relatively short one.

But that’s not all the former POTUS is facing right now. With Smith’s investigation ramping up, the DOJ and Fulton County DA also kicking their investigations into high gear, Trump is facing a number of high-profile criminal investigations that could end up with him convicted of multiple felonies.

Of course, none of those prevent him from running for President – or becoming President, even if he should be thrown in prison (which seems unlikely).

But will the United States choose someone who could potentially be convicted of multiple felonies to lead them into the future? Time will tell.

For now, Trump is going to be booked, presumed innocent, and given a fair trial.
