Seemingly Panicked Donald Trump Snaps on Truth Social as Indictment Nears

Donald Trump told his followers last weekend that he would be indicted in New York on Tuesday. He told his supporters to protest and “take back” the country. New York braced for violent riots, as did several other large cities.
Since then, a few things have changed – and not for the better, for the former POTUS.
A new witness seemed like a glimpse of hope for Trump, but turned out not to be the exoneration he hoped for.
And then, Tuesday came and went with no indictment.
It should have been a relief, but instead it was a slap in the face.
The protests that he tried to call for failed to materialize. In some places, anti-Trump protestors outnumbered pro-Trump protestors by a significant margin.
And the grand jury’s work continued.
Now, the indictment seems to be inching even closer, with an end-of-this-week or beginning-of-next date – and Trump is panicked again.

After Tuesday passed without an indictment, Trump seemed to draw a sigh of relief.
The screaming rants turned to more measured, not-all-caps posts that suggested he was trying to reign in his galloping terror at facing a legal system he thinks is rigged against him.
However, the grand jury could conclude their work as soon as today or tomorrow, and issue an indictment soon after. The most probable timeline seems to be early next week. The grand jury did not meet on the hush money case yesterday, and it seems like they won’t meet today – so early next week is when movement on the case is most likely.
And Trump is feeling the renewed pressure.
This morning, he took to Truth Social to seemingly beg New York DA Alvin Bragg to drop the case against him, screaming in all caps, “WHY WON’T BRAGG DROP THIS CASE? EVERYBODY SAYS THERE IS NO CRIME HERE. I DID NOTHING WRONG! IT WAS ALL MADE UP BY A CONVICTED NUT JOB WITH ZERO CREDIBILITY, WHO HAS BEEN DISPUTED BY HIGHLY RESPECTED PROFESSIONALS AT EVERY TURN. BRAGG REFUSES TO STOP DESPITE OVERWHELMING EVIDENCE TO THE CONTRARY. HE IS A SOROS BACKED ANIMAL WHO JUST DOESN’T CARE ABOUT RIGHT OR WRONG NO MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE HURT. THIS IS NO LEGAL SYSTEM, THIS IS THE GESTAPO, THIS IS RUSSIA AND CHINA, BUT WORSE. DISGRACEFUL!”
Later this morning, he added, “EVERYBODY KNOWS I’M 100% INNOCENT, INCLUDING BRAGG, BUT HE DOESN’T CARE. HE IS JUST CARRYING OUT THE PLANS OF THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS. OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED, AS THEY TELL US TO BE PEACEFUL!”
The above posts were followed up by a less-raging one praising the golf form of actor Jon Voight, an outspoken Trump supporter. But his rages remain high on his Truth Social timeline, showing his conflicted state of mind.

There is a lot of uncertainty in the air around when things will happen and what exactly will happen.
The only people who know the answers to those questions are the 23 grand jury members, and Bragg.
Everyone else is in a holding pattern, including Trump and his legal team. And it’s a position Trump isn’t used to.
He’s known as “Teflon Don” for his ability to wiggle out of legal peril, but he’s finally facing something he can’t sidestep, explain away, or ignore.
Trump has already fundraised over $1.5M once announcing news of his arrest, and rumors say that he wants to be handcuffed to cement the image of “persecuted leader.”
But if Tuesday’s nothing burger proves anything, it’s that his supporters tire of constantly going to bat for him, seemingly for his own gain and not theirs.
It was easy to convince them to show up on January 6 to fight for what they believed was a stolen election. After all, they have a stake in this country and its governance.
But Trump’s personal life and his supporters’ enthusiasm is a bit murkier.
Some are ready to defend Trump to the end, no matter what he’s done or is accused of.
Others are only in it when the stakes are high for them, and they’re worried that showing up to protest could be putting their future on the line. Rumors online among supporters called Tuesday’s called-for protests a “trap.”
What exactly happens when Trump is arrested – if he’s arrested – remains to be seen. But the former POTUS is back to raging about it, so he obviously isn’t expecting the best case scenario.
