Former President Donald Trump kicked off this week with a rousing rant on Truth Social. The business mogul targeted his main 2020 and 2024 rival: Joe Biden. And like many rants about the current President, this one did not mince words. Trump painted a picture of a desperate President who is in over his head. Especially as it pertains to Iran and its growing arsenal of nuclear weapons. Then Trump referred to the current POTUS as a “stupid fool.” Here’s what he had to say early Monday.
Trump Hits Campaign Trail Hard, With A Few Gaffes

Even though he’s not yet the Republican nominee for 2024, Donald Trump is already campaigning like he is. He’s been hitting the campaign trail hot and heavy in recent weeks. Partially to shore up support ahead of the primary season, and partially to distract from his neverending trail of legal and criminal woes.
Unfortunately for Trump, things aren’t going as smoothly as they did in 2016. Instead of building support and coming out of each rally with an impressive sound bite, he keeps making gaffes. Trump so far has been mocked for claiming he has a better body than Biden. And that he would win in a head-to-head fight with the current POTUS. Then, Trump insulted one of America’s staunchest allies, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. And that second gaffe came as Israel is engaging in an all-out war with Palestine after the former was attacked by Palestine’s extremist regime, Hamas.
In other words, Trump could not have picked a worse time to insult an ally. Especially considering how strong evangelical support remains for Israel. Now, the former POTUS has to hope that as he continues his string of country-wide rallies, he can avoid any more major missteps.

Yet online, it’s business as usual for Donald Trump. Early Monday, he took to Truth Social to lash out at rival Biden, and he did not hold back.
The furious former POTUS wrote, “Would somebody please inform our WORST President in history, Crooked Joe Biden, who doesn’t have a clue, that while he dithers around and illegally attacks his political opponent, ME, and is always trying to blame everyone else for the MANY, MANY, MANY mistakes he has made, IRAN IS RAPIDLY BUILDING A LARGE SCALE ARSENAL OF NUCLEAR WEAPONS. Once they have them, which will be soon, all negotiations STOP.”
He then went on to describe Biden begging in front of Iran’s leadership; “That’s when our incompetent fool of a President will drop to his knees and beg IRAN for mercy. ‘Please, Please, Please, Mr. Ayatollah, SIR, I will give you everything, I will do anything you demand. Don’t hurt us!'” He snarled, “This is the position that this stupid fool has put us in. Three years ago, under ‘TRUMP,’ Iran was BROKE — NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS, OR PROSPECTS. BIDEN HAS MADE THEM RICH, AND HAS NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. They started the attack on Israel and desperately want to become openly involved.”
Then, hoping to salvage his image in regard to Israel, Trump added, “‘Death to Israel,’ they chant. DON’T LET IRAN HAVE NUCLEAR WEAPONS!”
Fact-Checking Trump On Iran

However, the Council of Foreign Relations calls Trump’s recollection of history into question. Trump was the President who ended the deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) which severely limited Iran’s nuclear growth. He said at the time that JCPOA failed to slow Iran’s nuclear program. He pulled the US from the agreement abruptly in 2018 with no apparent follow-up plan in place beyond sanctions.
By 2019, Iran was already rapidly growing its nuclear program – a full two years before Biden took office. In fact, under Biden, the two countries of Iran and the US are closer to a new agreement than they have been in years. In March of this year, Iran agreed to allow more inspections from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog.
Trump is, however, telling the truth about the economic state that Iran was in under the former POTUS. It mirrors similar economic devastation that the oil-rich country experienced under President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush. Iran first agreed to JPCOA as a way to ease sanctions in place prior to the plan. Now, they may have fewer incentives to agree to a return to the original nuclear plan, and what appears to be a rapidly growing arsenal.
Instead, an interim plan may be possible with Biden‘s administration. The CFR reports, “… in June 2023, reports emerged that Washington and Tehran are nearing an informal agreement that would have Iran limit uranium enrichment to 60 percent and release several American prisoners. In return, the United States would free some frozen Iranian assets and refrain from pushing for new sanctions or UN resolutions against Iran.“
