Today, former President Donald Trump made dark history by being the first President to be formally arraigned on 37 felony counts.
The former President surrendered to authorities on Tuesday afternoon, appearing at a Miami courthouse to be booked and to receive his pre-trial hearing.
Trump summoned supporters to the courthouse, with some of his cohorts suggesting that it should be a day for violence. But things did not materialize as the 2024 hopeful planned.
A small amount of protestors arrived at the courthouse, but were outnumbered by press who lined up to catch sight of the former President as he arrived and left his pre-trial hearing.

CNBC reports, “Trump turned himself in at a Miami federal courthouse in the afternoon and was booked on the second set of criminal charges he has faced this year. The leading 2024 Republican presidential candidate was arraigned and pleaded not guilty to 37 counts related to allegations that he kept hundreds of classified documents after he left the White House and resisted efforts to return them to federal recordkeepers.
Trump is charged with willful retention of national defense information; conspiracy to obstruct justice; withholding a document or record; corruptly concealing a document or record; concealing a document in a federal investigation; scheme to conceal; and false statements and representations.
Trump aide and co-defendant Walt Nauta was initially expected to be arraigned Tuesday, but he did not enter a plea as he did not have a local lawyer. He arrived at the courthouse with Trump, surrendered and was booked.”
Sources close to the former President say he was “defiant” as he headed into the Miami courtroom on Tuesday afternoon.
After entering a “not guilty” plea to all charges, Trump left Florida to head to a fundraiser at his Bedminster, New Jersey, resort.
Trump was fingerprinted and booked, but did not receive a mugshot. This is a deviation from typical procedure, but Trump’s attorney argued that he was not a flight risk.
As part of his pre-trial condition, Trump can not contact co-defendant Nauta.
Trump was booked a day before his 77th birthday.
