In an interview with Glenn Beck released on Tuesday, August 29, former President Donald Trump touched upon the topic of legal actions against political opponents, should he secure victory in the 2024 presidential election. The conversation began with Beck referencing Trump’s past calls to “lock her up,” pertaining to Hillary Clinton, during his 2016 campaign.
Beck questioned Trump’s previous stance, stating, “And then when you became president, you said, ‘We don’t do that in America.’ That’s what they’re doing. Do you regret not locking her up? And if you’re president again, will you lock people up?”
Trump indicated a shift in perspective, asserting, “Uh, the answer is you have no choice because they’re doing it to us. I always had such great respect for the office of the president … I never hit [Joe] Biden as hard as I could have.”
Amidst ongoing legal battles, Trump attributed his legal woes to President Biden, claiming that “every one of these indictments is him.” He went on to suggest Biden’s involvement in orchestrating the legal proceedings, while also mentioning coordination between Biden’s administration and specific legal entities.
Trump also raised suspicions about the involvement of Biden’s appointees in his legal cases, mentioning the Manhattan district attorney’s office and Fani Willis. He even alluded to personal legal matters, citing allegations made by writer E. Jean Carroll, while describing those pursuing legal action against him as “sick people” and “evil people.”
It remains to be seen how Trump’s stance on potential legal actions will impact his political narrative as he contemplates a run for the presidency in 2024.
