Congrats to the new parents! But wait, how long have these two even been together? How did they meet and when did they start dating? What has the Unfabulous alum shared about her pregnancy? And who was she linked to before him? Not to worry, you guys, because we broke down their entire relationship from start to finish for you. Here’s a complete recap of Roberts and Hedlund’s love story…

Their Relationship Started In Early 2019

Emma Roberts

Rumors first started to swirl that Roberts and Hedlund were dating in March 2019, just days after the former Nickelodeon star had split from her on-again, off-again fiancé, Evan Peters. At the time, photographers caught the pair out for a walk together in Los Angeles, with an eye witness telling Us Weekly that he “had his arm around [her] for a bit and then they were holding hands.” As for how the romance started, a source also revealed to the outlet, “Garrett and Emma have been friends, but this is new, casual and just a couple of weeks old.”

A few weeks later, they were spotted holding hands again, this time in New York City. And later that month, they were caught packing on the PDA once more in Los Angeles.

Emma Roberts Says Dating In The Public Eye Isn’t Easy

While speaking to Cosmopolitan in May 2019, the blonde beauty got real about dating in the public eye, and she admitted it wasn’t easy.

“It’s hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience,” she said. “Growing up is hard. Sometimes it makes me sad that I can’t have a private moment. Because of Twitter and Instagram, there’s a whole other element where everybody can comment on what you’re doing, and no one knows the real story. That’s hard. … I know what’s true, and I know what happened in my own life, and so do the people that love me and who I love.”

The couple stayed pretty low-key after that, only being spotted together here and there, and some fans started to wonder if they had broken up. But in January 2020, sources told Us that they were definitely still together, but that the two stars were taking it slow.

“[They’re] having fun and enjoying each other. They are not talking an engagement or marriage at the moment,” the insider dished. “They like hanging out and going out together, and their relationship is more fun than serious.”

News Hit The Web That The Couple Was Expecting Their First Baby Together In June 2020

News first hit the web that the couple was expecting their first baby together in June 2020. Then, Roberts confirmed the pregnancy one month later via Instagram, and she also revealed the baby’s gender!

“Me… and my two favorite guys,” she captioned a shot of herself showing off her growing baby bump.

Emma Roberts Said She Always Wanted To Be A Mom

While speaking to Cosmopolitan in a November 2020 interview, the 29-year-old opened up about her pregnancy, and admitted said she always wanted to be a mom.

“Ever since I was little, I wanted to have a baby,” she gushed.

The Holidate star explained that she suffered from endometriosis for years, which can make someone infertile. But luckily, she found out she could have babies.

“When I found out about my fertility, I was kind of stunned. It felt so permanent, and oddly, I felt like I had done something wrong. But I started opening up to other women, and all of a sudden, there was a new world of conversation about endometriosis, infertility, miscarriages, fear of having kids. I was so grateful to find out I was not alone in this. I hadn’t done anything ‘wrong’ after all,” she said. “It sounds cheesy, but the moment that I stopped thinking about it, we got pregnant. But even then, I didn’t want to get my hopes up. Things can go wrong when you’re pregnant. That’s something you don’t see on Instagram. So I kept it to myself, my family, and my partner, not wanting to make grand plans if it wasn’t going to work out. This pregnancy made me realize that the only plan you can have is that there is no plan.”

She also spoke out about being pregnant during the coronavirus pandemic to Glamour in October 2020.

“It’s been really an interesting time in the world to be pregnant right now,” Roberts told them. “It’s definitely caused a lot of introspection but I think it’s been amazing to really sit with myself and really turn inward in a way I never have before and be still. I feel really grateful to have gotten to do that. To not just be running from one appointment to the next or one job to the next.”
