In episode 3 of the FACTZ Podcast, host Nik Richie interviews the infamous “Target Mask Karen” aka Melissa Rein Lively.

And it just so happens that she might be the next press secretary of the United States.

Richie talks with PR guru Lively about what it was like to gain sudden worldwide notoriety for a viral vid where she trashed a mask display in Target at the height of 2020 lockdowns.

And they also touch on the fact that Lively may well be the next press secretary of the US if former POTUS Donald Trump regains the White House in 2024.

Richie first met Lively back in Scottsdale, Arizona, when she was the PR specialist to everyone who was anyone.

During the pandemic, people turned to Lively for answers which no one had, and mounting frustration and anxiety coalesced into her now-infamous meltdown in Target.

Lively says that even though the incident was due to a mental health overload, she doesn’t regret what happened – and enjoyed the aftermath. And she believes that the furor over her video was somewhat manufactured. She asked Richie, “in the summer of 2020, am I the only person who destroyed a Target?”

Richie suggests that she’s implying that a lot of people were destroying stores in 2020 – but only she was blasted for it, because she is white and they are not. Lively is referring to the summer of protests that swept the nation over racial injustices in 2020, catalyzing with the police murder of George Floyd.

Since the incident, Lively has walked away with a public relations “formula” that she can use now to do other things with – but says that her husband’s sanity and happiness was the cost of what happened.

During the podcast, Richie and Lively talk about a number of other topics, including her craziest moments in the press, the way the United States is sending money to Ukraine and more.
