Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have officially concluded their divorce settlement, bringing closure to a process that spanned almost eight years. The former couple, who co-parent their son Maceo, 9, have successfully resolved their divorce and custody arrangements, as revealed in documents obtained by PEOPLE.
As part of the settlement, the court stipulated that both Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez will share joint legal custody of their child. Additionally, Berry has agreed to provide Martinez with a monthly child support payment of $8,000. Moreover, Berry will allocate “4.3% of any income she receives above $2,000,000” as supplementary support to Martinez.
In accordance with the ruling, Berry will take on the financial responsibilities associated with their son’s private school education, including tuition fees, uniforms, school supplies, and extracurricular activities. Furthermore, Berry has committed to reimbursing Martinez for any expenses incurred during the 2023/2024 school year.
The journey to finalize their divorce has been a lengthy one. Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez initially filed for divorce in October 2015, after two years of marriage. The announcement of their separation was accompanied by a joint statement expressing their intention to prioritize their son’s well-being and privacy amidst their decision.
In December 2016, a judge officially granted Berry and Martinez their legal single status, marking the first step in their divorce process. However, negotiations regarding child custody and support continued to be deliberated upon by the ex-spouses.
Alongside her son Maceo, Halle Berry is also a mother to daughter Nahla Ariela, 15, from her previous relationship with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.
