How I Met Your Mother was a cult favorite of its time. And, if you didn’t already know, there’s been a remake titled How I Met Your Father starring the one and only Hilary Duff. Yes, people, I know. This IS what dreams are made of. Anyways. Late to the game or not, season two is just one day away from premier and Duff spilled some tea about what we can expect.
Navigating Love Without A GPS
Unfortunately, the journey of love is a blind one with no GPS in sight and each character in this show portrays just that. Coming off of season one, Sophie (Hilary Duff) and her friends will be back on the scene in Manhattan working and looking for love.
In the trailer that dropped on January 10, Duff’s character says in the voiceover “We’re 30 now. We all want to meet the love of our life. But the world is not that simple anymore!”
Naturally, the season will continue to explore Sophie’s love life but it will also capture the romances of her friends Valentina (Francia Raisa) and Charlie’s (Tom Ainsley) split (or lack thereof), and Ellen’s (Tien Tran) and Rachel’s (Aby Jones) potential reconnection.
The hottest talk of the town so far is Sophie’s new romance with the one and only John Corbett. Corbett and Duff are reunited on the set of HIMYF years after starring in Raise Your Voice together when Corbett played the role of Duff’s teacher. He’s also reunited in Manhatten with his former Sex and the City cast star, Kim Cattrall who plays Sophie in the future. Creator, writer, and EP, Elizabeth Berger told TV Insider, “Honestly, we started from a place of who would be the most fun for the role and you know, we were, as we always do, batting around ideas with the writers.” Adding in, “And then the idea of Corbett came up, and we all just thought that was so exciting. Then as we sort of got further along in the process, we were like, ‘Oh, right, cool, he did this movie with Hilary a million years ago.’ And then we thought, ‘Is that weird?’ And then we thought, ‘No, it’s awesome.’ Hilary’s a grown woman now and everyone can handle it.”
And, Corbett isn’t the only guest star that we have to look forward to.
Hilary Duff Teases Viewers With Special Guests
In season one we saw Cobie Smulders reprise her role as Robin Scherbatsky and Duff teased that another original cast member of HIMYM will be stopping in.
“I think I might lose my job if I told you who, but we do have a special guest from the original cast coming this season,” the actress confirmed on Good Morning America on January 23. “It was a dream come true working with them. I think our dream would have the entire cast come through at some point.”
Watch the love stories unfold and the team continue to brew as of tomorrow, January 24 on Hulu.
