Hollywood's Most Anticipated Films - The Top 5 Movies of Summer 2022

Hollywood is back to churning out the blockbusters quicker than it takes to say “box office.” For movie lovers there are few things better than a bucket of popcorn so big you can bathe in it, an ice cold drink so large your bladder begs for mercy and an on-screen picture so perfect it makes a grown man cry (we are talking about you Top Gun: Maverick).

Since it’s been two looong summers without the smell of buttered popcorn wafting its way through your nostrils and the feeling of bass beating at your body we are extraordinarily excited for the return of summer movies.

Taking no chances, Hollywood has started turning at burning at the box office a little earlier than normal. Films like the aforementioned Top Gun: Maverick, Elvis and Jurassic World: Dominion have already broken all box-office expectations.

That said, they have by no means blown their box-office wad, not even close. With that in mind, here are five must-see movies of Summer 2022.

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and his hammer are pulled out of retirement to save the galaxy from Goor (Christian Bale), a killer of Gods. Thor along with his friends King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster(Natalie Portman) for help. Much to his surprise, Jane is now able to yield his older hammer for her own powers as the Mighty Thor. This is confusing to Thor and hella hilarious to the audience.

In the director's chair and as the voice of Korg is Taika Waititi who brings gut-busting laughs, tender emotions and a lot of Guns N' Roses to the film. It’s for this reason that Thor: Love and Thunder is this girls favorite in theThor franchise.

Writer director Jordan Peel is adding his latest film Nope to the Summer 2022 slate. Set in a town in California, Peel tells the story of the town folk and their encounter with some out of this world visitor(s).

Without giving away any plot points, what we can say is, there are many, many layers to this film starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer and Steven Yeun. You can’t be surprised at that, it is Peel calling that shots and those of us who saw Get Out and Us, certainly know what the talented Peel is capable of.

Before we see the highly saturated neon-colored Ryan Gosling as Ken in Barbie, fans will first see him as The Gray Man. Gosling, Chris Evans, Wagner Moura and Ana de Armas star in this movie about a CIA mercenary forced to flee. While on the run he discovers some not so cool things about his agency. Dun dun DUN.

This one drops on the streaming platform Netflix for those not quite ready to venture back into the theaters.

Just when your superhero cup is running low, along comes your family pet to the rescue? Yep that’s right, this family friendly film is not about the actual superheroes that we have come to revere, but about their pets.

Lending their voices to the league of super pets is Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Keanu Reeves (swoon)

The animated film centers on Superman’s dog teaming up with(among other animals) a cat who can fly and together they fight crime. If you insist on taking the kiddos to one movie this summer, make it this one. Heck, it looks so good that we won't judge you for renting a kid for the day to go see it.

Brad Pitt, Bad Bunny and Sandra Bullock – need we say more? Ok fine, twist our arm. Bullet Train is a flick about five assassins on a single train with common missions. What those missions are are something you’ll have to wait to see for yourself cause we aren’t spoiling it.

Based on what we’ve seen already at Cinemacon, what we can say is that director David Leitch (Pitts former body double) has handcrafted an action movie so good you’ll wanna write to your granny and tell her about it. Or, in the case of today’s tech, you’ll no doubt write several tweets on the matter.
