Are you looking for a getaway that involves more relaxing than driving but not necessarily a resort? There’s nothing like a weekend in the city. Being able to walk to the majority of your destinations, having a wide range of high end restaurants to choose from and always having somewhere worth seeing. Unfortunately with the shutdowns due to COVID-19 most major cities have lost their charm. However, there’s one that hasn’t because southern charm doesn’t ever fade; Charleston, South Carolina. This little big city is filled with history and beautiful architecture and sits perfectly beside the water. And on the famous King Street is Hotel Bennett – “The south’s grandest new luxury hotel.” “Inspired by native Charlestonians and European classic design.”

Inside Luxury

Hotel Bennett

The posh establishment has 179 rooms for guests, ranging from double queen rooms, to king rooms, to suites. And recently, an even more upscale room has been added to the booking page. But first, let’s talk about the original rooms and suites.

The website elaborates “Our distinguished service and meticulous attention to detail creates the getaway of your dreams.” And if that doesn’t sell you, then maybe this will. “[The] stylish guestrooms and suites transcend traditional upscale accommodations with custom furnishings and designs that authentically reflect Charleston’s famed elegance and grace. Indulge in designer pedestal tubs, separate showers, luxurious bedding and locally inspired artwork, among many intricate and thoughtful nuances that embody the Hotel Bennett experience.”

And it doesn’t end there. Along with your dreamy stay is access to the hotels club – “a private oasis for guests seeking exclusive indulgence and comfort throughout their stay.” The hotel calls this your “VIP treatment.” You will get “customized itineraries, on-demand concierge, views of downtown Charleston and the Chef de cuisine’s food and beverage presentations throughout the day and evening.” With the club access you will be pampered from the moment you walk into the hotel (did someone say champagne?) and, all throughout your stay.

Amenities and Activities

Hotel Bennett

To assure that the rooms are worth leaving, Hotel Bennett also provides luxurious amenities and outgoing activities. On the rooftop of the hotel is a heated pool where you can reserve cabanas. There are six private cabanas with the option to rent to hotel guests only. You will have the option to choose between the Grand Cabanas and Standard Cabanas which will come with luxurious day beds, private televisions and complimentary items. And for those of you trying to relax beyond just a daybed at the pool, there’s the spa. “It’s the city’s finest spa experience with unique offerings, as well as radiance and fortitude treatments focusing on heart health.” Continue to treat yourself with a massage, skin care, body treatments and more.

Outside of the hotel you can experience Marion Square which is said to be “the heartbeat of the city for over 150 years.” On Saturdays, the prominent square is home to Farmer’s Markets. On other days it’s the hot spot for the acclaimed Spoleto Arts Festival and Charleston Wine + Food, among other signature events. And, if you find yourself dreaming of a wedding in this divine city, Hotel Bennet has access to Marion Square for ceremonies.

The Owner’s Suite

So remember when we said that a more upscale room has been added to the booking page? Hotel Bennett is now allowing guests to book the Owner’s Suite upon request and offering a super luxe package to go along with it.

“The personally designed Owner’s Suite reflects the tasteful palate of the Bennett family, the local family which carefully designed and owns the hotel.” Some may even say that it’s the most luxurious hotel suite in Charleston. “[The suite] enjoys spectacular views of historic Marion Square and the city’s famed, church-steeple skyline. The two-story 2,380 square-foot suite features custom furnishings, including a dining area for six, an expansive living room with two sitting areas, butler’s pantry, wine cooler, and a gourmet kitchen. Multiple French doors open onto the extraordinary wrap-around terrace. At 838-square feet, this outdoor retreat provides the perfect place for dining or relaxing. The suite’s second floor features an open office area and master suite with a king bed, a private sitting space, spacious walk-in closet and dressing room, and a spa-style bathroom with a pedestal soaking tub, walk-in shower and double vanity.”
