Depending on who you ask, beloved actor Jamie Foxx is either playing pickleball and thriving – or learning how to walk again in intensive rehab.
Why the mixed messaging?
Because Foxx’s condition varies depending on who you ask.
On April 11, while filming Netflix’s “Back in Action,” Foxx experienced an undisclosed medical incident, which left him hospitalized.
His condition seemed – from the outside – to be slow to improve, and at one point family seemed to call for prayers, leading media outlets to report that things were dire for the 55-year-old.
But not long after news broke that Foxx’s health was in dire straits, his daughter scoffed at the media reports.
On May 12, Foxx’s daughter Corinne posted on Instagram, “Update from the family: Sad to see how the media runs wild. My Dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recuperating. In fact, he was playing pickleball yesterday! Thanks for everyone’s prayers and support!”
It’s a time-honored tradition for media to speculate about celebrity deaths, but it seems like Corinne has little patience for people worrying over her father’s health.

Corinne posted a video with her dad May 11, captioned, “First he’s learning how to sync his phone with his #IntelEvo laptop, next thing you know he’ll be editing photos all by himself. Baby steps, @iamjamiefoxx. Baby steps. #ProudDaughter.”
Speaking of baby steps, though, a new report is casting doubt on Corinne’s rosy outlook.
RadarOnline has reported that an inside source tells the outlet Foxx is not out playing pickleball and running around carefree – he’s learning how to walk again in an intensive rehab center.
The outlet reports, “‘Jamie is receiving treatment at one of the top physical rehabilitation centers in the country,’ the insider told RadarOnline.com.
‘The clinic specializes in physical therapy programs to treat injuries or a physical condition that limits or prohibits the ability to walk or walk correctly.’
‘They teach people how to walk again at this particular clinic,’ the source added.
‘Jamie would not be at this clinic if he was not impaired in some way as a result of whatever happened to him. But fans should rest assured: Jamie is in the best of care at this type of clinic.’”
While the source did disclose the name of the clinic that Foxx is allegedly at, they opted not to name it in the report.
But the outlet did note that the clinic specializes in stroke, brain injury, and spinal cord injuries.
So who’s telling the truth?
There are very good reasons why Corinne would hide her father’s infirmities, if he is in fact learning to regain his motor skills following a significant and impactful injury or condition.
After all, Hollywood moves at lightning pace, and the last thing an actor wants to portray is an inability to keep up.
On the other hand, knowing that Foxx is struggling with his health could help those who love him from afar offer support.
Either way, ultimately Foxx and his family get to decide how much privacy they want and they need. So for now, all reports of Foxx’s condition remain speculation.
