UPDATE: A closer examination reveals that legal impediments are already in place, precluding his return to the highest office. Notably, the recent indictment of Trump in Georgia reinforces this argument, underscoring the significance of post-Civil War history in shaping the eligibility criteria for the presidency.
The legal grounds for disqualification stem from a web of historical precedents and Constitutional interpretations. Insights from Georgia’s indictment of Trump resonate strongly with this perspective. As we analyze the dynamics at play, a pivotal truth emerges—Trump’s actions have rendered him ineligible for a presidential run.
The echoes of the post-Civil War era resonate profoundly in this discourse. The constitutional aftermath of the Civil War was marked by the inclusion of provisions designed to safeguard the nation against potential leaders who might compromise its principles. The specter of treason and rebellion loomed large, compelling lawmakers to erect barriers against individuals who have fomented insurrection or aided enemies of the state.
UPDATE [July 5, 2023]: Former President Donald Trump is still in his head that the election was rigged. Number 45 couldn’t help himself on the fourth of July by attacking President Biden on his Truth Social account. Trump reshared a meme by a MAGA loyalist questioning why Biden has no hats or shirts in support of his presidency, unlike MAGA, who is swarming in red supporting Trump.
Trump deleted the post after backlash on how vulgar the image was since it pictured a flag stating “F**K BIDEN” and attacking all supporters of Biden.
Original story (Jan. 10, 2023): Donald Trump is feeling the pressure from Georgia.
Today, Fulton Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney wrote in a brief that the Grand Jury investigating election interference in Georgia has concluded its work.
Many believe that this brings the District Attorney in Fulton County (Fani Willis) several steps closer to levying criminal charges against Trump and his cohorts.
While Trump often tries to play it cool and react to things on his own terms, this time it was clear that he was angry.
The former POTUS went from cool and collected to screaming on Truth in a matter of hours – with the difference between the announcement that the grand jury had wrapped up its work.

Even though the Speaker vote was a pyrrhic victory, Donald Trump was feeling good about things as the week kicked off.
His efforts to help Kevin McCarthy be elected as Speaker of the House seemed to work, and the weekend passed mostly without incident for the former POTUS who is working hard to craft an image of himself as a commanding leader with lasting control of the GOP.
Unfortunately for Donald Trump, Georgia had other plans.
In his legal brief released Monday, Judge McBurney wrote that the grand jury investigating election interference has been dissolved after it completed its mandated duty.
A majority of Superior Court judges who reviewed the grand jury’s report agreed.
McBurney wrote in the brief, “The Court thanks the grand jurors for their dedication, professionalism, and significant commitment of time and attention to this important matter. It was no small sacrifice to serve.”
The special grand jury was convened to “investigate any and all facts and circumstances relating directly or indirectly to alleged violations of the laws of the State of Georgia” in regards to the 2020 election.
The probe centered on a January 2021 phone call between Trump and GA Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, wherein the former POTUS suggested they “find” enough votes to turn victory in his favor in the 2020 election.
The subjects of this probe were Donald Trump and many of his allies. High-profile witnesses included Mark Meadows, Rudy Giuliani, Senator Lindsey Graham, and other cohorts.

After news broke that the grand jury had dissolved and submitted its final report, Trump took to Truth to get out his feelings of frustration Monday afternoon.
The former POTUS wrote on Truth, “REMEMBER JUST TWO YEARS AGO WHEN WE HAD A STRONG BORDER, NO INFLATION, AND WERE ENERGY INDEPENDENT? IT CAN ALL HAPPEN AGAIN, AND FAST. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
He later added, “REPUBLICANS CAN GET ALMOST EVERYTHING BACK THAT ‘THE OLD BROKEN CROW,’ MITCH McCONNELL, AND THE REAL ‘LEADER,’ CHINA CENTRIC COCO CHOW, STUPIDLY GAVE UP TO THE DEMOCRATS OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS, BY SIMPLY PLAYING TOUGH IN THE UPCOMING DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS. WITH THE ‘RIGHT’ NEGOTIATORS, LIKE ALL OF THOSE INVOLVED THE OTHER NIGHT (ON BOTH SIDES!) FOR SPEAKER, IT WILL BE A BEAUTIFUL AND JOYOUS THING FOR THE PEOPLE OF OUR COUNTRY TO WATCH. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”
It’s a marked deviation from his posts earlier in the day, where Trump seemed cool and confident.
After telling Republicans to fall in line behind McCarthy last week and being roundly ignored, Trump is facing a crisis of confidence among his own supporters – and Georgia’s Fulton County District Attorney is now breathing down his neck.
