YouTuber Jeffree Star has given fans an important health update after getting into a “severe” car accident and being rushed to the hospital. According to the influencer, and he and his friend Daniel Lucas were driving on April 16, 2021, when their car hit black ice and flipped over three times. Thankfully, it appears that he’s doing OK after the scary incident.

Who Is Jeffree Star?

For those who don’t know, Star rose to fame in 2009 after he released his first and only studio album, which was called Beauty Killer. At the time, he also gained a lot of attention for his Myspace blog, where he wrote about his life, fame, beauty and more. Then, in 2014, he launched his very own makeup line, called Jeffree Star Cosmetics. He later revealed in Shane Dawson‘s docu-series that the end of his music career had left him essentially bankrupt, and that he had used his remaining savings to start his makeup brand. Around the same time, he also started his YouTube channel so he could promote his cosmetics — which now has more than 16 million subscribers.

What Happened To Jeffree Star?

Wyoming Highway Patrol Sergeant Jeremy Beck told People Magazine that the crash was reported shortly after 8:30 A.M. local time on Friday. He said that Star and “another person” were driving on Hat Six Road, and “ended up losing control, drove off the roadway and rolled.”

“There was slush on the roadway up in that area,” Beck said, adding that Star was “transported to a hospital there in Casper.” The sergeant also confirmed that Star was the one driving the vehicle, and that both he and Lucas were wearing seatbelts. Further investigation into the crash is still ongoing.

“A few hours ago Jeffree and Daniel were in a severe car accident and the car flipped three times after hitting black ice,” read a statement that was posted to Star’s Twitter after it first happened. “We will update you all when the doctor gives us more info. So thankful they are both alive.”

Later on in the day, the makeup mogul took to social media himself, and he revealed that he broke his back — but that he’s thankfully going to make a full recovery.

“This morning was one of the scariest moments of our entire lives. I’m so grateful to be here still. I’m in excruciating pain because part of my back is broken and I have vertebrae fractures on my spine,” he wrote. “My doctor said it will take a few months but I should make a full recovery.”

But his friend Lucas wasn’t doing as well. Star continued, “My best friend Daniel has internal injuries and because he has survived colon cancer three times, he’s having complications with his organs and they’re monitoring him 24/7. We’ll know more soon. Thank you to every single person checking on us.”

How Is Jeffree Star Doing Now?

On April 17, the Jeffree Star Cosmetics founder revealed that he had been discharged from the hospital and that he was heading to his home in Wyoming to rest.

“Today [Daniel’s] having more tests done and might need surgery. I’m now discharged,” he explained.

He added in another tweet that he even went to see his car, which wasn’t easy.

“This was hard but I had to go see my car today. Thank God a #RollsRoyce is built with highly reinforced steel because it saved our lives. Time to heal and let my body repair,” he said.

In one final update posted on April 18, the beauty guru admitted that he was in a lot of pain from his injuries.

“The pain is 10 times worse than yesterday but we are doing OK. Love you guys so much,” he revealed. “Daniel is flying back to Las Vegas today so he can get surgery done by his specialist there.”

Plus, in a video posted to his Stories, Star added that he’ll have to wear back brace “for a few months” and that he’ll be “bed ridden.”

“My back is really broke,” he said. “My vertebrae, three of them are not attached right now. And I am in the most excruciating pain ever. The pain medicine is kind of helping, but I’ve never felt anything like this before. It’s like my muscles are on fire inside.”

Why Did Jeffree Star Move To Wyoming?

Star relocated from California to Wyoming in December 2020, and some fans were a little confused as to why he made the move. But it turns out, he really just wanted some peace and quiet.

“I’ll be looking for some really cool ranches with a lot of acres and silence. And miles [and] miles away from anyone, for myself. So, yes b***h, Jeffree Lynn is coming to Wyoming,” he said on Instagram when he was first looking for a house there. “I think 2020 has been so crazy. It definitely opened up so many new chapters and things that, maybe, I was not ready to do. But b***h I’m ready. I’ll always be a Californian. Honey, it’s time to expand my wings and have a little more solidarity.”

He also tweeted after making the move, “For everyone wondering, I’m never gonna leave Hidden Hills! I just bought a home in Wyoming with a lot of land for my family and I. Going to split my time between California and here.”

He also revealed that he’s going to write an autobiography during his time there, which is pretty exciting if you ask us!

Star has not slowed down recently, despite moving to Wyoming. He just launched a new online cannabis store called Star Lounge, which sells grinders, jars and apparel. He also dropped the first ever Jeffree Star Cosmetics mascara on March 20, 2021, which was called “F**k Proof” and is now sold out. He has also continued to post epic YouTube videos and drop other makeup products, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for him! We hope he and Lucas both have a speedy recovery.
