Prepare to feel old, you guys, because it has officially been nine years since Jessie premiered. That’s right, the beloved Disney Channel show aired its first episode on September 30, 2011, but it seriously feels like just yesterday we were watching Debby Ryan, Cameron Boyce, Karan Brar, Peyton List and Skai Jackson on our TV screens, and we cannot believe how fast time has flown by!
The series as all about a Texas-born girl named Jessie who headed to New York to become a nanny for the Ross family. It went on for four seasons before it concluded on October 16, 2015, and when it went off the air, it was definitely the end of an era.
But wait, what are the stars of the show doing now, you ask? In honor of the anniversary, we decided to check in with them all, and boy, have they changed a lot! Some went on to land some pretty big acting roles, while others started other ventures, but either way, they all accomplished a lot over the years. Here’s what they’re all up to these days…
What Is Debby Ryan Doing Now?
Ryan did not slow down after Jessie! She starred in so many big movies and TV shows, including Sing It!, Rip Tide, Cover Versions, Every Day, Life of the Party, Grace, Insatiable, Horse Girl and more. She also has two new movies in the works, so keep your eyes peeled for her!
But that’s not all, the actress also started her own clothing line in 2013, and she also joined a band called The Never Ending. They released an EP, called One, in 2014. She and her longtime boyfriend, Twenty One Pilots drummer Josh Dun, got married on December 31, 2020.
What Is Cameron Boyce Doing Now?
The entire world was left heartbroken when Boyce tragically passed away on July 6, 2019, after suffering from a seizure in his sleep. He was only 20 years old at the time of his death, and his family later revealed that he had a medical condition called epilepsy.
Before his death, the former Disney star acted in Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything, Steps, the Descendants movies, Mrs. Fletcher, Runt and others. He was also super passionate about charity, and spent much of his time giving back.
What Is Karan Brar Doing Now?
Jessie was just the beginning for Brar! He actually continued his role as Ravi Ross for the spin-off show Bunk’d. He also appeared in Pacific Rim: Uprising, Stargirl, Mira, Royal Detective, The F**k-It List, The Argument and more. He’s currently gearing up to star in a new movie called Hubie Halloween, and we can’t wait to see it!
What Is Peyton List Doing Now?
List continued to act after Jessie ended. She landed roles in in Bunk’d, The Swap, The Thinning, The Outcasts, Anthem of a Teenage Prophet, Then Came You, The Thinning: New World Order, Cobra Kai, Light as a Feather, Glamorous, Swimming for Gold, Valley Girl, Paper Spiders and others. She too was cat in the upcoming flick Hubie Halloween. As for her love life, she dated Cameron Monaghan for a year before splitting in January 2019.
What Is Skai Jackson Doing Now?
After Jessie ended, Jackson went on to star in Bunk’d, Culture Clash, Dragons: Rescue Riders and more. In 2017, she received a nomination from the Shorty Awards for Best Influencer. Plus, she starred in Lil Nas X‘s “Panini” music video. Now, she’s currently competing on Season 29 of Dancing With the Stars. You go, girl!
What Is Kevin Chamberlin Doing Now?
Chamberlin may always be Bertram in fans’ heart, but that didn’t stop him from accomplishing a lot after Jessie. He acted in A Christmas Melody, Internet Famous, Grace and Frankie, The Emoji Movie, Wonder Park, The Nightmare Gallery, Trouble and more. He also appeared in a few Broadway plays over the years, and was nominated for three Tony Awards! So impressive!
