Joe Biden’s Campaign Surpasses Donald Trump’s Campaign Followers on Truth Social

Former President Donald Trump reigned supreme on his social media platform, Truth Social. That is until President Joe Biden‘s campaign joined the party. Now, Truth Social has joked that the presidential election is playing out in real-time on its platform. And it’s not great news for the Republican frontrunner.
Trump Continues To Dominate Republican Field

About three months out from the Republican primaries for 2024, Donald Trump still has a commanding lead. The only real challenger to his throne is Ron DeSantis – whom he leads by dozens of points in nearly every poll. The question of course is: why? Trump is facing 91 felony charges across four major criminal investigations. A decade ago, such a frontrunner would have been unimaginable. So why does Trump continue to dominate his party?
The interesting answer to that question may simply be that Trump is leading because Trump says he’s leading. Trump’s confidence and promise of an ability to win against all comers has created a self-fulfilling prophecy. Followers who felt ignored ahead of the 2016 election saw Trump as a way to shake Washington up and stop catering to who they perceived as the stuffy and aloof politicians who run the country.
Trump, after all, is anything but stuffy and aloof. His straight-talking way appeals to many outsider voters. Many of those who didn’t vote before 2016 turned up to cast their first-ever votes for Trump. Since then, he has brought them multiple culture war and political wins, proving his point that he has a winning record. Now, he’s promising to win again. And in doing so, he’s winning again.
Yet Joe Biden Campaign Has More Followers On Truth Social Than Donald Trump’s Campaign

Joe Biden, Donald Trump – Truth Social
Joe Biden, by contrast, is a practiced politician. During his time as Senator and Vice President, Biden sold himself as a man of the people. Constantly citing his Scranton, Pennsylvania, upbringing, Biden was able to win over the hearts of rust belters and union workers. The same people who broke for Trump in 2016. And then for Biden in 2020.
Now, a microcosm of the 2024 election is playing out in an unexpected place: on the Truth Social platform. Truth Social has long been the playground of Trump and his followers. So it was a little surprising to find that the re-election campaign for Joe Biden had joined the platform. Not only that but as of Thursday morning, Biden’s campaign page has more followers than Trump’s campaign page.
That may be in part because people already follow Trump on Truth so they don’t feel the need to seek out his campaign page. Or it may be out of curiosity. Either way, Biden’s campaign is using their superior numbers to put their thumb in the eye of Trump, who is busy pretending he doesn’t notice. The Biden campaign has been posting about the chaos among House Republicans, the war between Hamas and Israel, and other hot-button topics that they’ve stayed away from on other social media platforms. Trump is busy posting endorsements and complaints about his neverending legal woes. Neither has directly engaged the other. But a showdown is likely coming.
Whether or not the numbers on Truth represent an accurate display of how voters will break in 2024 remains to be seen. But it’s shaping up to be a rematch between a man who promises winning based on an impressive past record, and a man who actually won last time.
