Joe Jonas, the Jonas Brothers singer at age 34, has filed for divorce from Sophie Turner, the 27-year-old actress, after four years of marriage. Documents obtained by PEOPLE confirm that the filing was made on Tuesday in Miami, citing that “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.” The filing also confirms the existence of a prenuptial agreement between Jonas and Turner.
As of now, representatives for the couple have not responded to PEOPLE’s request for comments regarding the split.
The couple, who first connected through Instagram DMs in 2016, married in 2019 after nearly three years of dating. According to the documents, they share two children, a 3-year-old named Willa and a second daughter identified as D., aged 14 months.
This move comes shortly after reports revealed that Joe Jonas had retained a divorce lawyer, even though he continued to wear his wedding band. The couple’s relationship had initially blossomed through social media, leading to their engagement in 2017 and their first wedding ceremony in Las Vegas in 2019, followed by a more formal celebration in France.
In July 2022, representatives for both Jonas and Turner confirmed the birth of their second child, another baby girl. Joe Jonas has expressed his excitement and joy about being a father in the past and has kept much of his personal life private.
Despite divorce rumors surfacing over the weekend, Jonas seemingly attempted to dispel them by publicly wearing his wedding band during a Jonas Brothers concert and sharing a photo on Instagram proudly displaying his ring.
