It looks like Joey King and her boyfriend, Steven Piet, are not afraid to show off their love! Yep, the actress shared a rare photo with the producer to Instagram on Christmas, and fans are seriously living for it.
“Christmas,” she captioned the adorable shot, which showed them cozying up in front of the tree.
So cute! But wait, who even is her boyfriend, you ask? How did they meet and how long have they been together? Who else has the Kissing Booth star been linked to over the years? And what do we know about her relationship with Jacob Elordi? Not to worry, you guys, because we went ahead and broke down her entire love life from start to finish for you. Here’s everyone King has ever dated and what went down between them…
What Else Do We Know About Joey King’s Relationship With Steven Piet?
Rumors first started swirling that King and Piet were dating in September 2019, after they attended Cinespia’s screening of Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery together. They were joined by her two sisters, Hunter and Kelli King, and according to an eyewitness, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other!
“They were very affectionate and were with her two sisters sitting watching the movie together. Joey and Steven cuddled the entire time and looked very happy together,” the onlooker told E! News at the time. “They had snacks and drinks and were laughing with her sisters.”
So who is her man, you ask?! Well, he’s actually a writer, director and producer from Chicago. He produced the Hulu show The Act — which, as fans know, King starred in and is likely where they met!
After their initial spotting in September 2019, the couple was spotted packing on the PDA a few times, but they kept the relationship pretty low-key. They never spoke out about it publicly, and this is actually the first time they have ever shared a picture together online, so it’s a pretty big deal!
What Happened Between Joey King And Jacob Elordi?
Before entering into a relationship with Piet, King dated her The Kissing Booth costar Elordi for about a year. They got together during production of the Netflix movie in 2017, and the brunette beauty later opened up about falling for her costar to Bello Magazine.
She explained, “Was it love at first sight? Well, I thought he was very cute when we first met, but it started as a friendship. Right away we were talking about gross things with each other. But before long I started to realize, ‘Hey, I think I kind of like this person!’ It was such an interesting experience meeting your boyfriend on set because you spend so much time together and become so close so fast.”
They made their love Instagram official in April 2017, and made their red carpet debut as a couple a few months later (in August 2017), and after that, they became total goals. They constantly shared the cutest, PDA-filled snaps together and gushed over each other online! But in November 2018, something must have gone wrong because fans started to notice that they had deleted all of their old pictures together.
Then, in March 2019, King seemingly opened up about their breakup for the first time. She revealed to Refinery29, “All you can really do at that point is shut your phone off and crawl into your sister’s bed and watch Friends with her. When you’re going through something and the world wants to go through it with you or to get every piece of detail from you about it, it’s really difficult. Some of these things are just meant for you.”
But things didn’t end there. The former flames actually had to reunite to film The Kissing Booth sequel a few months later, and according to King, it wasn’t easy to work with her ex.
“It was crazy,” King later admitted on the “Mood with Lauren Elizabeth” podcast. “It was a wild experience, but honestly, it was a really beautiful time because I learned a lot about myself and I grew as an actor, I grew as a person. I am very much, like, a frickin’ huge fan of The Kissing Booth. I’m a fan of how it resonated with the world and it resonated with me. So going back and doing that and making the sacrifice, obviously, that everyone is thinking about — I’m not outwardly addressing, but what I’m kinda on the sly addressing — making those sacrifices was totally worth it.”
She also spoke about the experience to Cosmopolitan in August 2020.
“No one’s thinking to themselves, ‘That was easy,’ because it wasn’t. I’m sure people will analyze every movement and every detail. And you know what? Let them. But at the end of the day, I was just thrilled to be Elle Evans again… There’s so much I want to say. What’s the most, um, correct way to go about this? Elle Evans needs her Noah Flynn, and whatever that means for my personal life, I’ll do anything to make sure the story of my character who I care about so much is complete,” the brunette beauty told them.
“I think it’s a good thing we dated in the first place. I learned the most I’ve ever learned in my life from him,” the 21-year-old shared.
Did Joey King Ever Date Taylor Zakhar Perez?
There’s also rumors that King dated her other costar Taylor Zakhar Perez. Their characters in the Kissing Booth sequel had so much chemistry on the screen, that when the two stars were caught getting cozy in a few social media posts in July 2020, fans quickly went into a frenzy over it. Plus, Perez posted a super sweet birthday tribute for King a few weeks later, fueling the rumors even more.
“Happy friggen birthday @joeyking. Honestly I could write about this woman all day. She is the reason I joined the KB2 family, she welcomed me with open arms and love, she supported me, she pushed me, she made me laugh (like pee my pants laughter and had to check my underwear), she inspired me to be a better actor, she shared her family with me, THE LIST GOES ON. Grateful for you forever,” he gushed.
They also went on vacation together, but the actor insisted that they were only friends.
“I know, we went away this weekend for some friends’ birthdays, and her birthday, and everyone kinda freaked about it. I will say that we are not dating,” he told Access at the time. “We just became really close during filming, but then we became even closer after filming because we live really close to each other. I think we’re like a three or four minute drive from each other. We’re kind of each other’s accountability partners during quarantine. So we got to hang out, make sure that we weren’t seeing anybody outside of the circle of people that we trusted.”
He also insisted to Entertainment Tonight that they were simply the “best of friends.”
“We just kind of hit it off. When we were [filming] in South Africa, we had dinner together. I cooked for her, she cooked for me. We just became kind of like the best of friends,” Perez said. “When we got back to Los Angeles we just kept hanging out. We live really near each other. And then the quarantine hit and we kinda just needed someone to trust during that time, like, ‘OK, I know you’re not going out. I know who you’re seeing.’ So we just became really close. Last weekend we went to celebrate her birthday and a friend of mine’s birthday. We just went together and had a good time. I love her. I love her dearly. I’d do anything for her. We’re not dating. I’ll end it with that.”
