Beloved Bachelorette couple JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers had been long planning to tie the knot in June of 2020. Like so many other events this year, they were forced to postpone their big day. Now the couple is talking about their plans for a new wedding day in 2021.

JoJo and Jordan Fall in Love

The couple met on season 12 of the Bachelorette, in 2016. Two weeks after Rodgers proposed to Fletcher on the season finale, they moved in together in Nashville. In 2018, the couple talked baby fever and the possibility of starting a family, but hit a rough patch later that year.

In 2019, Fletcher told UsWeekly, “We’re in the best place ever, let me tell you. We’ve been very open about our first year being tough — it wasn’t the easiest. We had definitely some rocky, rocky moments, but those were growing years. And so, we are at the best stage we’ve ever been in our relationship. Life just keeps getting better, you fall more in love. That sounds cheesy, but it’s true.”

Us says that in August of 2019, “Rodgers proposed to Fletcher again, complete with a new engagement ring, three years after first popping the question. ‘I love @joelle_fletcher with all my heart!! I always wanted to re-propose, with no cameras, no producers, no drama…just us,’ he explained via Instagram. ‘Our first engagement was so real, and meant so much to us both, but as we start to actually plan our wedding for next year I wanted to do it all over again, OUR WAY! So I bought a new ring, made a plan (that almost fell apart multiple times), and got down on one knee all over again.’”

The Couple Talks New Wedding Plans

After the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to reschedule their June 2020 wedding, the couple sat down to talk with UsWeekly about their plans for a new big day:

“‘We had almost everything in place,’ the 29-year-old former Bachelorette told Us while discussing the couple’s partnership with The Knot. ‘We know that we’re going to have to sort of shift some things or maybe do some re-selections. Thankfully, our vendors have been incredible. So we were able to keep the same vendors. But with the wedding being postponed almost an entire year, you know, there might be new things that come out, new colors, different types of furniture. So in my mind, this is a whole process again, just to confirm that we still love everything that we chose months and months ago.’

Rodgers, 32, chimed in to ‘clarify’ that Fletcher is the one who is going ‘through the whole process over again.’

The sports commentator explained, ‘She sees new shiny objects on Instagram and on social media all the time. She’s like, ‘Oh, my God, this is beautiful.’ And I’m like, ‘Yes, but I thought we already planned that. We picked that one already.’ You know, the delaying is blessing and a curse.’”

They Were Bummed About Postponing, but Pushing Ahead

Fletcher told Us, “We obviously were bummed that we have to postpone it a whole year. But it’s 100 percent the right decision. We’re super happy to wait it out and have everyone that we love there for when it does come.”

Fletcher continued, “We joked about [eloping]. But I think we both agree … that our wedding, it’s something we’ve waited for, you know, our whole life.”

JoJo and Jordan Are Helping Charity

The pair isn’t just tying the knot, they’re helping the world. Rodgers explained, “In the state of the world that we’re in, you know, material things, for us, are not the most important. So the ability to have a charity attached to our registration was so important to us. We partnered with Direct Relief, that’s gonna provide COVID-19 essential medical items to healthcare workers. … We really encourage our guests to donate to this charity and a big part of our wedding is making sure that that we give back as well.”

Although they’ve suffered a setback, after years of waiting they’re almost there. Fletcher and Rodgers have less than a year to go before they’re finally tying the knot in wedded bliss. Everyone can keep their fingers crossed that the pandemic will be over by next summer, and the Bachelorette fan favorites can finally enter a state of wedded bliss.
