Kailyn Lowry Out at Teen Mom After Briana Connects with Chris Lopez

Things got messy (well, messier) between Teen Mom 2‘s Kailyn Lowry and Briana DeJesus this week after the former leaked some text messages that cast DeJesus in a less-than-flattering light. Now, in the wake of the back-and-forth, the lawsuit they’re embroiled in, and what many see as an underhanded move by DeJesus – Lowry says she isn’t filming with MTv for now. Does that mean she’s done with Teen Mom altogether? CELEB takes a look at what is happening between Lowry and DeJesus and if her time is over with the long-running teen pregnancy show she’s grown up on.
Lowry Tells MTV She’s Out
Lowry is out – at least, for now. TooFab reports, “OG ‘Teen Mom 2’ star Kailyn Lowry didn’t appear at all during last night’s brand new episode — and, according to both her and production, the decision was Lowry’s alone and came after learning costar Briana De Jesus was linking up with her ex Chris Lopez for a podcast about parenting.”
The meet-up set off a chain of events that led to Lowry leaking some texts online – which caused DeJesus to lash out in return. DeJesus defended her choice to make a podcast with Lopez saying that Lowry had once had her ex on a podcast – but of course, those two were friends first. Lopez and DeJesus weren’t friends before. But it sure seems like they are now, after eagle-eye fans spotted DeJesus wearing one of Lopez’s shirts after their podcast meetup.
The Text Exchange That Start it All
This week, Lowry dropped a series of texts on social media that showed that DeJesus was trying to meet up with not just one of Lowry’s exes – but two. Of course, that second ex is also an ex of DeJesus – could these two get more complicated?
Lowry was married to ex Javi Marroquin from 2012 to 2017, and they share one son together – Lincoln. Lowry shares two children (Lux and Creed) with ex Chris Lopez.
According to the texts that Lowry leaked, DeJesus (real last name Soto) was traveling to Delaware to film a podcast with Lopez. Marroquin lives in Delaware, and the texts show DeJesus reaching out to try to meet up for dinner with him.
In the text, DeJesus leads with, “I may be going to Delaware to film a podcast with Chris. Maybe we can do dinner or something then. Probably end of February early March.”
But Marroquin realizes it’s probably not in his best interest, responding, “Yo yo! Mannn respectfully, that just sounds like a mess for me to get involved. Whatever you and kail got going on is between y’all, but my loyalty is to my sons mom and I don’t think us doing dinner after you do a podcast with Chris would 1) be a good look and 2) just not how I wanna live.”
DeJesus responds, “Okay! I understand.” Then adds, “I wasn’t gonna tell anyone. Just keep it a secret so we can catch up but maybe next time forsure when all this drama goes away.” She caps the conversation with “Have a good day crazy” and a kissing emoji.
After Lowry dropped the texts, DeJesus had some things to say.
DeJesus first tried to act as though the texts were fabricated – then dropped that pretense and explained that she and Marroquin had a right to meet up, as former partners, and that Lowry was just stirring drama.
Lowry’s Lawsuit Moves Forward
This exchange is just the latest in a series of back-and-forth volleys between the two reality stars as they duke it out now in court.
Lowry first filed a defamation lawsuit against DeJesus for saying she beat her ex, Lopez. According to Lowry, DeJesus made the claims specifically to cause public harm to her.
The Sun reports, “Kailyn claimed Briana ‘has a history of making false public statements regarding Lowry’s family life,’ including when she allegedly responded to a Twitter user ‘[Lowry] gets beat the f**k up by Chris in front of her kids.’
The mother of four was mentioned in the lawsuit when she was excluded from the June 8, 2021, Teen Mom 2 episode.
Briana claimed she wasn’t included because she allegedly ‘committed violent, physical crimes towards Mr. Lopez. Defendant also asserted that Lowry was arrested for breaking and entering into the home of Mr. Lopez’s mother.’
Briana alleged Kailyn ‘didn’t want to film’ about the alleged incident.
However, Kailyn claimed she did not break into Chris’ mother’s home or beat him up.
She alleged the statements ‘threatened’ her ‘ability to earn a living’ and that she suffered ‘personal humiliation and mental anguish.’”
In return for Lowry’s defamation lawsuit, DeJesus filed an anti-slapp motion which defends her right to free speech and has since sought an order of protection to stop Lowry digging into DeJesus’s sex life.
The pair continue to get messy on social media, something fans love to point out, but the reality is that their public sparring hides some deep-seated pain that they’ve both caused each other over the years.
While Lowry seems to be determined to stay away from DeJesus for awhile, and DeJesus is happy to stay away from her, their future on the show is uncertain. Most likely, like all the times before when they sniped at each other, things will settle down and they’ll both appear in more staggered segments on Teen Mom 2 – but time will tell for sure.
