UPDATE 12/29/2022 3PM EST
Kanye West is stirring more than rumors about a luxury car sell-off. Now, people are worried that the rapper is missing.
A former business manager is trying to serve Ye with a lawsuit for breach of contract, but the rapper is MIA.
Former business partner Thomas St. John is filing a lawsuit against Ye for $4.5M for unpaid fees in an 18-month contract.
But they’ve tried every residence they have on file for Ye to serve legal papers, and he’s nowhere to be found. Whether or not West is on the run from legal woes remains to be seen, but it’s a curious development in the story of a rapper who went from billionaire to persona non grata in just a few months.
Original story continues below:
It’s clear to any outside observer that Kanye West’s financial situation is going from problematic to dire.
The rapper, who goes by Ye now, has been under fire for public antisemitic comments that have caused a number of high-profile brands to cut ties with him. West even went so far that he shocked shock-jock and extremist right-wing host Alex Jones by affirming his affection for Hitler and Nazis.
Additionally, Ye has been banned from many social media platforms.
Now, reports are circulating on the internet that Ye is being forced to sell off his famed luxury car collection to avoid financial ruin – have things really fallen that far for the erstwhile billionaire?

While there have been ample articles online and more than ample discussion around the idea that Ye is selling off his luxury cars to recoup financial losses, there doesn’t seem to be any concrete proof.
It would make sense, though. Ye has an extraordinary amount of money tied up in his cars, which include multiple Lamborghinis (including the Aventador and Urus), a Bugatti Veyron, a Mercedes McLaren SLR, and others.
And if you’re looking for some quick cash, every one of those cars will provide an instant injection.
But for now, it remains speculation.
What’s not speculation is just how far Ye has fallen, however.
When 2022 started, Ye was a billionaire. Now, it’s hard to calculate his net worth but by the end of October, Forbes estimated his net worth at around $400 million.
The new valuation came after brands like Adidas and Balenciaga cut ties with Ye for his antisemitic remarks.
CNN wrote at the time, “Forbes said that the $400 million remaining of his net worth comes from real estate, cash, his music catalog and a 5% stake in ex-wife Kim Kardashian’s shapewear firm, Skims.
Of course, it’s likely that Ye still considers himself a billionaire, given that he has complained for years that Forbes was underestimating his net worth. Forbes reported that in 2020 — when it first listed him as a billionaire — he texted the magazine saying, ‘It’s not a billion. It’s $3.3 billion since no one at Forbes knows how to count.’
For this year’s valuation, Ye sent documents to Forbes claiming his Adidas partnership alone was worth $4.3 billion, and has claimed elsewhere that his net worth was about $7 billion.”

Kim Kardashian recently opened up in an emotional interview about the difficulties of co-parenting with Ye, and it’s clear that the chapter on their romance has closed forever.
With brands refusing to work with Ye, social media turning a cold shoulder, and few prospects ahead, where does Ye go from here?
Like many people “canceled” by the public, West has one place to turn: the radical right.
Conservatives and extremist right-wingers like Milo Yiannopoulos have welcomed West with open arms.
As he gears up for his 2024 presidential run, Ye is turning more and more to those extremist pundits for friendship, support, and a path forward.
Ye recently made controversial headlines when he appeared at a dinner at Mar-a-Lago with former President Donald Trump and avowed white supremacist Nick Fuentes.
It’s clear that his new friends aren’t bothered by his antisemitism. If anything, they consider those beliefs a feature and not a bug.
Whether West will continue his path into politics or try to reforge his music career remains to be seen, but for now – he has precious few friends, financial resources, and options.
