Kate Middleton is reportedly done trying to make nice with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. After all the bad blood between them and her husband, Prince William, it’s no wonder the prim Princess is taking a step back. Sources close to the palace say that after everything that’s happened, Kate isn’t ready to try to find a path forward with her wayward brother-in-law and sister-in-law.

Kate Channels Her Inner Taylor Swift

Kate Middleton is known for being the prim and proper Princess in public. She never sets a toe out of line and follows royal protocol to a “t.” But the Princess playfully stepped outside of her usual proper demeanor for a visit to Cardiff to honor Black History Month in the UK this week.

While posing for a photograph at the Fitzalan High School in Wales, Kate decided to channel her inner Taylor Swift. She put up the heart hands sign, which Swift always makes for audience members when she performs. It was a sweet and playful moment for the oft-serious Princess. And one that resonated well with her fans. Of course, it wasn’t all fun and games while she and Prince William made the rounds for Black History Month. They were about serious business, too.

While at Fitzalan, they took time to honor the cultural heritage and history of the area. In a statement shared to social media, the duo wrote, “Great work by pupils using science, technology and the arts to explore their cultural heritage and the significance of the Windrush Generation in Tiger Bay.”

Kate Middleton and Prince William seem determined to carry on life as usual even after everything that has happened between them, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle. But one thing that Kate is unwilling to do, according to sources in the know, is make nice with her estranged in-laws.

OK! Magazine reports that an insider said, “Kate has no desire to communicate with Harry nor Meghan. There has been too much that has happened, and she’s not ready yet.” The source added, “William wants his relationship with his brother to improve, but they’re not speaking right now. So when that will happen is still uncertain.” The insider mused, “Kate and William have been having ups and downs in their marriage like everyone else. But they’re focused on their royal duties and doing that as a unit.”

And a royal expert, Katie Nicholl, explained that the way the Sussexes have behaved was too much for the protocol-loving Kate. “I think it’s too far down the line for Kate and Meghan. Meghan clearly didn’t enjoy her time here [in the U.K.] and she’s obviously leading a much happier life in California … She is certainly in no hurry to come back to Britain [to reconcile], though she was certainly in a hurry to leave.”

Nicholl added, “I don’t think Kate does angry. I think it is more a case of feeling very disappointed, very let down and feeling hurt knowing that she had no right of reply. And Harry knew full well she had no right of reply.”

So for now, Prince William and Prince Harry‘s wives, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, will remain polite strangers.
