Katy Perry certainly is letting Las Vegas hear her roar. The multi American Music and Billboard winner is celebrating her latest achievement – the Key to the Las Vegas Strip.“I'm probably going to try and unlock some stuff in places I may not, or shouldn't go just to see if it opens anything,” Katy said from the stage of her headlining Vegas show. “I'm definitely going to fiddle through some drawers.”
“I'm probably going to try and unlock some stuff in places I may not or shouldn't go just to see if it opens anything."
Along with “The Key to the Las Vegas Strip,” Clark County proclaimed June 8 as "Katy Perry Day" in the city. “I feel that I'm welcome. I feel like I've had so many good memories here in Vegas. It just feels very natural to be here.”
Perry Plays
Perry, who opened her Las Vegas residency “Katy Perry: Play” in December at Resorts World, has easily one of the most colorful and fun shows on the Las Vegas strip. “Play” features the following: 16’ tall toilet, a 9’ tall x 21’ long bathtub and among other things a 12’ tall x 20’ long bed.
The show is cut into five different acts and features hits like “ET,” “Dark Horse,” and “Firework.”
Super Star Support

It should come as no surprise that her shows have drawn in quite the celebrity crowd. Actor Rob Lowe is the latest to see Perry live. Lowe sharing to social media, “We both kissed a girl…And liked it.”
“That's my Montecito fam, that's my Santa Barbara family and super cool that they all come out” Perry said of Lowe coming to her show. Speaking of her Santa Barbara family, Perry says her American Idol family has been so supportive as well. Luke Bryan, who also has a residency in the same theater, has taken in Perry’s show.
In fact, both her fellow American Idol hosts have Las Vegas residencies. Bryan and Perry share the stage at Resorts World. And Lionel Richie has a residency at the Encore inside the Wynn just to the south. The “Hot N Cold” singer reached out for advice especially when it came to dealing with the Las Vegas heat.
“I got here and I was like the first second day I was in I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, this is so intense.’ I mean, sometimes you'll come to Las Vegas and you'll have some crazy boogers!” That’s certainly not a good look on the face. But, it’s even worse for Perry’s pipes.
"I mean, sometimes you'll come to Las Vegas and you'll have some crazy boogers!”
“Oh, my gosh, you cannot get moisturized. So think about that for the vocal cords which want to be always moisturized. So I reached out to Lionel. I was like, ‘How the hell do you do this?’ And he's like, ‘Don't worry, you'll get used to it. You'll find your rhythm.” says Perry. “The next day he sent me a Hello Kitty humidifier.”
“I actually remember watching a clip of “Behind the Music” of Celine Dion. And she said she slept in a blanket of humidity with like four humidifiers coming from all angles. I thought she was a little bit OTT (over the top).”
Not anymore. Now Perry gets it.
Girl Power

Perry herself has taken in both Britney and Lady Gaga during their respective residencies. But there is still one woman she wants to see, Shania Twain.
Go and Play with Perry

In the meantime, Perry will be a Las Vegas strip staple through the fall. She’s just added more dates to her Play residency that’s Resorts World Las Vegas.
