While the world was shocked last Friday when it was revealed that President Donald Trump and his wife, First Lady Melania, tested positive for coronavirus, a number of positive tests have come out since then. Most notably amongst them was Chris Christie, the former Governor of New Jersey who had helped prep Trump for his debate against Democratic nominee Joe Biden. Also notable was the diagnosis of Kellyanne Conway.
Now, in breaking news, it has been revealed that White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany has also tested positive for the virus.
In a statement posted to social media, McEnany wrote the following:
“After testing negative consistently, including every day since Thursday, I tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning while experiencing no symptoms. No reporters, producers, or members of the press are listed as close contacts by the White House Medical Unit. Moreover, I definitively had no knowledge of Hope Hicks‘ diagnosis prior to holding a White House press briefing on Thursday. As an essential worker, I have worked diligently to provide necessary information to the American People at this time. With my recent positive test, I will begin the quarantine process and will continue working on behalf of the American People remotely.”

Were Reporters Exposed?
The part of McEnany’s statement referring to being around reporters is further discussed in a Raw Story article. The article discusses how Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski from MSNBC were “appalled” that McEnany had been around reporters knowing that she had been exposed to COVID-19 (which McEnany denies in her statement above).
Raw Story‘s article also quotes Associated Press reporter Jonathan Lemire, who stated to Scarborough and Brzezinski that “…McEnany was, we have now learned, notified of Hope Hicks’ positive diagnoses yesterday and later in the day still held a briefing with White House reporters, and, of course, she was not wearing a mask.”
“She still took the podium in the White House briefing room,” Lemire added. “Yes, she took to the podium in the White House briefing room and spoke to reporters after learning that Hope Hicks had not been feeling well, after learning that Hope Hicks tested positive. The president himself did not interact with reporters, which was noteworthy — that’s rare these days. No reporters had contact with him, other than waving at a distance headed to the helicopter headed to his New Jersey fundraiser.”
Understandably, Scaborough and Brzezinski’s reaction to what Lemire had to say was shock and disgust.
More To Come
There has been a LOT of news regarding diagnoses after Hicks and Trump’s were revealed and we are sure there will be more to come in the next few days. Hopefully everyone exposed to the virus recovers safely.
