After 27 years of marriage, Kyle Richards and Mauricio Umansky have decided to separate, as confirmed by PEOPLE. A source close to the couple reveals that while they have been living under the same roof, their separation has been ongoing for some time. They maintain an amicable relationship as they navigate their future, both individually and for their family.
Richards, 54, first crossed paths with Umansky, 53, at a nightclub in 1994. At that time, Richards was divorced from her first husband, Guraish Aldjufrie, with whom she shares a daughter named Farrah Brittany (née Aldjufrie), now 34 years old.
The couple got engaged later in 1994 and eventually tied the knot in January 1996. They went on to have three daughters together: Alexia, 27, Sophia, 23, and Portia, 15.
In 2010, the public was introduced to their family through the reality show The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which premiered on Bravo. Throughout the show’s 12 seasons, Richards and Umansky emphasized that their on-screen portrayal reflected their genuine relationship.
Umansky expressed their commitment to authenticity, stating, “We’re the same, with or without cameras. We’re just super real, and we know each other, and we’re real… We don’t have any secrets to hide. That’s one thing we talked about, the skeletons in the closet, and we can handle our worst skeletons” (March 2013, PEOPLE).
Umansky consistently supported Richards during family dramas showcased on the show, particularly during season 12. He stated, “I have always just been 100 percent supportive of her, no matter what she does… If she wants to reconcile [with sister Kathy Hilton], I am all down for it. If she’s not ready to reconcile and she needs to just keep it going for a little bit, I support her a thousand percent” (November 2022, E! News).
The news of their separation follows recent speculation after Umansky denied rumors about their relationship’s instability when Richards was seen without her wedding ring. Umansky dismissed the rumors on a podcast episode, asserting, “We’re not getting divorced… That one stupid story that came out there, and then the girls all, you know, decided to talk about it on the Housewives, and so now it’s a storyline” (April, Two T’s In a Pod).
As Season 13 of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is currently being filmed, viewers can expect to see Richards and Umansky address the rumors directly. The couple’s separation marks a significant change in their lives after over a quarter-century of marriage. We wish the family the best.
