Three men have been arrested in connection with the deaths of Christy Giles and Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, Radar Online and other outlets are reporting. LAPD officers stormed the set of NCIS: Los Angeles on Wednesday, where one of their suspects was working. 42-year-old Brandt Osborn, an actor working on the set, was handcuffed and arrested. Osborn was charged with accessory to manslaughter and held on $100K bail.
The second suspect who was arrested received the same charge. 47-year-old Michael Ansbach was also arrested Wednesday. Ansbach Has worked in Los Angeles as a cameraman for a long time, including on hit shows like Vanderpump Rules, Punk’d, The Amazing Race, Dancing With the Stars, Love & Hip Hop: New York and Famously Single plus more.
The third suspect received the more serious charge of manslaughter and a $1M bail. David Pearce is an actor and producer who has been pictured on red carpets with celebrities throughout the years.
When they announced the arrests, the LAPD shared that they believe the women were given drugs and overdosed, and they are concerned there may be more victims.
The New York Post reports, “According to actors Alexandra Creteau and David Murrietta Jr., both 35, Osborn had divulged to them while on a shoot in November about partying with women and later dumping their bodies. ‘I have had the craziest weekend of my life,’ Murrietta said the actor told him.
‘He told me how they’d partied, two girls came back to their place, and the girls had a bunch of drugs.’ Murrietta said Osborn told him he left his apartment to get a COVID-19 test for the commercial shoot, and when he returned his roommate informed him that Giles was dead.
‘He checked her pulse, freaked out, decided not to call 911, and they decided what to do with the body,’ Murrietta told The Post. ‘Then they didn’t know what to do, they didn’t want to call 911 and get in trouble, so they decided to drive and drop her body at Culver City hospital.’”
It’s a heartbreaking conclusion of a horrifying story, but the first sign that justice may be delivered in the deaths of these two young women. The ongoing case is still an open an active investigation and, the LAPD encourages anyone with information to come forward.
Just two weeks after friend Christy Giles was found dead, dumped at an LA-area hospital, Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola has died as well. On November 26th, her family announced that she was pronounced braindead, saying in a statement per E! News, “‘My girl was diagnosed brain dead yesterday [Nov. 26],’ he said. ‘We were already expecting it to be bad news and we’re trying to take it with a lot of strength.’
He added, ‘I asked God to return Hilda to me in 100% good health but if she was going to be left impaired it is better for her to leave and go by His side.’”
And heartbreakingly, on November 29 – Cabrales-Arzola’s 27th birthday – she died. The young woman’s family was able to travel from Mexico to spend her last days by her side, adding, “We’re all devastated but grateful that God let us have her with us for almost 27 years and allowed us to come here and say goodbye to her. I’m grateful that with her last breath she will be able to give life to others and that she will live on in the heart, eyes, lungs, of someone else.”
There are still more questions than answers surrounding the death of these two vibrant young women, and the families are desperately seeking justice. Was it a night of partying gone horribly wrong, or was this intentional? Giles’ family continues to implore anyone with information to come forward, hoping for answers in what has become their living nightmare.
What We Know
Instagram models are a dime a dozen, but Christy Giles was something special. With a strong and classical bone structure and a talent for finding the right light, the Instagram model was an up-and-coming star with a world of talent and promise for the future. That promise and her vibrant life would be cut short in November 13th, in a mysterious and horrifying way.
ABC7 shares, “‘People share these amazing videos that they have with her, and it just brings back her energy, and I know I’ll never get to see her or kiss her or touch her again, and it’s just so heartbreaking,’ said a tearful Jan Cilliers, Giles’ husband.”
But what happened? Here’s what we know so far:
- Cillers was in San Francisco at the time of his wife’s death. The two shared phone locations for safety.
- On Friday November 12, Giles went out partying with two friends, including Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola.
- Saturday night around 5 PM, around 12 hours after she was last heard from, Giles’ body was found dumped in front of Southern California Hospital in Culver City.
- Giles was pronounced dead at the time she was discovered.
- Cabrales-Arzola was left at another hospital, two hours later – barely clinging to life. She is in a coma with no brain activity and is unlikely to survive.
- The third friend left early and made it home safely.
- Giles’ husband, Cillers, says there’s video evidence showing masked men dumping his wife’s body from a car with removed license plates.
- Cabrales-Arzola’s toxicology report has returned showing large amounts of heroin in their system.
- Cillers is crying foul, claiming that neither woman would do heroin willingly.
Family Desperate for Answers
A GoFundMe has been launched to help the family, with costs going towards an investigation into what happened. Cillers is adamant that neither woman would have done heroin willingly. Although police have hinted that they believe it was an accidental overdose, Cillers believes something more nefarious is at play.
The GFM site has raised nearly $100K and reads in part, “On Saturday November 13th Christy & her friend Hilda were allegedly drugged. Twelve hours later three men in an all black, masked in bandanas; with license plates removed, dropped Christy off on the sidewalk of a hospital. Christy was already lifeless and pronounced dead at the scene. Two hours later the same vehicle with two masked men dropped her friend, Hilda off at a different hospital. Hilda is currently in critical condition and fighting for her life. This story is by no means unique. Since Saturday we’ve all received a number of messages from other females who have eerily similar stories, except the only difference between them & Christy and Hilda, is they survived.”
As they launch private investigations and plead for information, Cabrales-Arzola continues to fight for her life. It’s a horrifying and unimaginable end to what should have been an unremarkable but fun girls’ night out.
Another Model Makes the News
Another model has been making headlines, and for equally sinister reasons. But in this situation, it’s the model who’s the perp. In a bizarre movie-like story, model Camila Maroden is suspected of having hired someone to execute her husband – at their son’s 4th birthday party.
NY Post reports, “Camila Marodin, who is suspected of living a secret life as a cartel queen, was arrested after Ricardo Marodin was shot dead during the family celebration.
Cops initially believed Ricardo was the gang leader – but they now understand his wife holds a senior position in the criminal organization in the coastal town of Matinhos, Parana.
And they have since uncovered her hoard of 13 luxury houses worth 3 million Brazilian real ($547,900) and five cars, including two Audis and a Porsche.”
Police have reportedly been investigating the gang they’re allegedly involved in for months. Maroden was caught on the way home from her mother’s house after stashing a Glock there. Reportedly, the couple was living an ostentatious and out loud lifestyle, not hiding their allegedly ill-gotten gains. Maroden says Ricardo’s death is a case of, “mistaken identity,” but clearly police don’t believe it.
