Get ready, Louis Tomlinson fans, because the singer may be heading to the big screen! That’s right, screenwriter Adrian Butchart, who is currently working on the upcoming movie about Jamie Vardy, just reportedly confirmed that the One Direction member is in talks to play the soccer star.
There’s A Few Other Names In The Running
According to a Twitter account called Film Updates, Tomlinson isn’t the only one being eyed for the role. Yep, Robert Pattinson and Zac Efron are also allegedly being considered for the part, and TBH, all three of them would be perfect for the role! The social media account has also reported that the movie will focus “his time at Leicester City” and will be produced by Gareth-Ellis Unwin and Simon Egan.

Jamie Vardy Is An Amazing Soccer Player
For those who don’t know who Vardy is, he signed with Leicester City in 2012, and boy, has he accomplished a lot. He helped the team win the Championship in 2014, and in the 2015–16 Premier League season, he was voted the Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year after he scored in 11 consecutive matches. He also won the Premier League Golden Boot for the 2019–20 season.
It’s No Secret That Louis Tomlinson Is A Huge Soccer Fan
Tomlinson would actually be perfect for the role, since it’s no secret that he’s a huge soccer fan. In fact, back in 2014, he actually bought the Doncaster Rovers — the team in the city he grew up in.
“For me, this is all about the football, the community and restoring the excitement and desire to making Doncaster Rovers the most exciting club to play for in Yorkshire,” he said in a statement at the time. “I want to see the Doncaster Rovers supporters get the club the success it deserves. I grew up in Doncaster and have felt the love for football run through the town, it’s for that reason that I have a real personal passion to make Doncaster Rovers a success story.”
He also has played in numerous charity soccer matches, posted videos of himself performing trick shots and get this — he even got his jersey number tattooed onto his fingers!
This Isn’t The First Time That Rumors Circulated About The Movie
It turns out, this isn’t the first time that rumors started to circulate about the “Walls” crooner starring in the flick. Yep, back in 2016 some reports emerged that claimed Tomlinson was going to play Vardy in a film, and everyone was pretty excited about it. To fuel the speculation even more, Tomlinson was actually invited to Vardy’s wedding to Rebekah Vardy that year. It’s unclear how exactly they met, but everyone quickly started to assume that they got to know each other through the movie. Unfortunately, however, it’s rumored that the 29-year-old was eventually forced to back out after his mom, Johannah Deakin, was diagnosed with leukemia. The movie was reportedly put on hold after that.
Louis Tomlinson Is Currently Working On His Second Album
Over the last few months, Tomlinson has been pretty vocal on Twitter about the fact that he’s hard at work on his second album. He’s constantly sharing messages about being in the studio and writing new songs, and back in April, he even posted that he’s got “something big” planned for sometime this year.

When a fan asked the star when we could expect his music to drop, he said it will probably come out sometime this year.
“Assuming ’21 [but] who knows,” he said.

While chatting with Telegraph in a recent interview, the 1D heartthrob explained that the pandemic has given him time to “really get into what I want to say” on his new album.
“I’m very, very excited. I had basically penciled down a plan before corona took over our lives,” he explained. “And now it’s kind of given me a little bit of time to really get into what I want to say and what I want things to sound like.”
When asked about the sound, Tomlinson said that fans can expect it to be a lot like his hit song “Kill My Mind.”
“There’s a certain energy in that song, in its delivery, in its attitude, that I want to recreate,” he continued. “People are struggling at the moment, so I want to create a raucous, exciting atmosphere in my live show, not a somber, thoughtful one.”
He also revealed via Twitter that he wants to start his own management team and make a documentary. Plus, he’s set to go on his debut world tour next year — so there’s a lot of stuff for us Tomlinson fans to get excited about!
He Isn’t The Only Member Of One Direction Who Is Acting
If Tomlinson does snag the role, he won’t be the only member of 1D to grace the big screen. His bandmate Harry Styles made his acting debut in 2017 when he starred in Dunkirk, and now, he’s got two new movies in the works — My Policeman and Don’t Worry Darling.
And that’s not all. Liam Payne actually revealed back in 2019 that he was auditioning for some acting roles.
“I’ve had some great auditions for a couple of different things, which have been amazing,” he said during an appearance on the Capital Breakfast Show. “I’m enjoying it. It’s a fun process.”
He even revealed that he had tried out for the upcoming West Side Story remake, but unfortunately, he didn’t get the role. In the end, it went to Ansel Elgort instead.
“The first thing I ever auditioned for was the remake of West Side Story, which is being done by Steven Spielberg,” he explained. “On my last birthday, I got a message saying, ‘You need to meet [Steven].’ So I had to go and do an audition in front of him which was quite wild. I didn’t get it but I was in the last 5 people for it, which I was quite happy with because it was a big part in the film. I mean, it was the first audition I had ever done and I put four tapes in and then managed to get to meet Steven Spielberg so it was pretty amazing.”
