I’m so grateful for the journey this album has taken me on and I’m so thankful to have had this creative outlet during my time at home. Lyrically and sonically, this album has allowed me to decipher the last 10 years of my life and help me make sense of the person I am today and how I got here … Thank you to my brothers in 5SOS for your support and allowing me to pursue this project. Endless love to you.”

Have Any Other Members Released Solo Albums?

Yes! It turns out, the 24-year-old is not the first 5SOS member to release music on his own. Back in October, Irwin actually dropped an album of his own called Superbloom, and fans are still obsessed with it.

“It is with a great explosion of joy and with my entire soul that I proudly announce that I am releasing my first solo record on October 23,” he wrote when he first announced it last year. “Superbloom explores my inner philosophies and feelings about the walk of life I have found myself on. It brings me the greatest joy of all that I am in a band that allows me to create freely inside and outside of it. I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

After its release, he confirmed that the group wasn’t splitting up and that he wasn’t leaving them to make solo music. He said in an interview, “A band is often a trauma bond because you’ve been through so much together. 5 Seconds of Summer has been my life’s work. I’ve always been really driven in pushing that band into the stratosphere. I’ve been every almost every place on earth and told them that I give a f**k about being in 5 Seconds of Summer.”

He added that if it wasn’t for the pandemic, he’d be touring the world with his bandmates but since it was canceled it gave him “the perfect chance for me to make some music on my own, test my songwriting ability and start a little venture on the side for me to live in when 5SOS isn’t busy.”

What Else Has Luke Hemmings Been Up To Lately?

Besides making an album, Hemmings has also stayed busy in the romance department. Yep, he announced in June 2021 that he was engaged to longtime girlfriend Sierra Deaton!

“With shaking hands but a full heart, I proposed to my best friend earlier this year. I love you Thao and I can’t imagine my life without you,” he wrote on Instagram at the time, alongside some pics from the moment he got down on one knee.

According to People Magazine, he popped the question in Malibu, CA, back in February. Deaton added in a post of her own, “It was fun keeping this a secret for so long, but my heart is nearly bursting at the seams. Can’t wait for forever @lukehemmings.”
